Dig in!

No breakdown yet by color or transmission or options, just total numbers by body type and by year.

For the tl;dr types, here are the totals I added up for the 2G CTS-Vs alone:

1386 total V wagons 2011-13, or 7% of total production, for those too lazy to go over there.
7030 Coupes 2010-2013, or 38% of total production
10010 Sedans 2009-2013, or 54% of total production

Ok, the sheet is uploaded. The 2014 Coupe total now adds up. So the totals did not change from what I had. Crimson just closes the loop on them. All the old links to the sheet should go to the latest version. Since I don't actually know when the last time I posted the link to the sheet was: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BwyLksrt7qO5NzdHMDBQUGtOMFk

Other new things in the sheet. You will see I've started working on breaking down sedans more but haven't gotten very far. There are a bunch of wagon VINs that were missing. I think I'm down to just over 200 missing VINs on wagons now. There's a bunch of another column filled in but it isn't complete. I wouldn't have uploaded the sheet for the sedan and wagon WIP but I felt it important for the sheet to show the Crimson coupes that were missing.

V Wagon,

Sorry it’s taken me so long to get back to you first of all. Your work on the Silver Frost Matte is more than impressive! Number 11 I am! I had the opportunity to buy a Stealth Blue coupe with roughly 7000 more miles for about $5000 less. With only 14 Stealth Blue V coupes…wow. Nonetheless I’m still more than ecstatic to have number 11 Silver Frost Matte!! With all that said, the letter I received stating there were only 95 Silver Frost Matte coupes might actually be correct in a way. I came to this conclusion after noticing five cars were actually shipped to Canada. What do you think, I mean after all the letter did come from a call center in Malaysia? Thanks again for your help! Keep up the excellent work.

Yeah, I have no idea how they ran what they did to give you the letter but it is entirely possible they did something that only looked at USDM cars.

Chuck, I missed your post before. I will work on adding a couple layers of break down and see what I can get you down to.

On the Crimson red. I looked up the 15 VINs I had. All retail-stock orders. Meaning GM just builds them and finds dealers to ship them to. Makes sense for something that they randomly decided to build for a lets get rid of this point sort of reason. Can't say that's for sure what happened but that's what all signs point to in my opinion. The paint was there, the 3rd gen CTS wasn't selling and the color was going away. What else is being built to put that paint on?

Sedans and Coupes now have full breakdown to Color/Transmission/Roof. There are a lot of 1's and 0's in the manual no sunroof columns.

Next I will probably do color/trans/Recaro for those.

The big wagon list, all 2011 build combinations have now been figured out. There are some more VINs on the list compared to last update. Not sure what else I've actually completed there honestly.

Pretty cool list, I really enjoyed poking around

Any ideas on how I can find out what my car cost new?

I think if you sorted the sheet by VIN you could figure out how many cars you are from the end. I think I already had all the VINs after yours from incrementing on the build info site. I know how many cars were built each month. One thing I want to do to try to find the missing cars is to get all the build dates sorted out better to see if there are some ranges of dates I can look through that would be likely to find missing cars.

Crap, the first part of the VIN causes that not to work. You'd have to split the VIN column between the 9th and 10th digit and sort on the last 8 digits of the VIN column for that to work out.

So, I did what I said. Ag Wag, I think your car is 19th from the end. The first car built on the last day of V Wagon production. It is definitely the first car built on the last day. I'm fairly certain I've accounted for the VINs of all cars after it.

Thank you very much V Wagon, for all of the work you have put into this and my questions. Built on the last day of production is a good story.
Thanks fellas, but I have an '09 so early in the build process that it was made in '08. I think my prices may differ slightly from '12 and '14.....but I don't know. I also wonder if I have one of the oldest V's on here.

I found the publication that I remember being a good resource for what you are asking. Visit this link: 2008-14 Cadillac CTS | Consumer Guide Auto

scroll down to the Equipment Lists and click on your year.

Sorting the list to answer Ag Wag's question has resulted in the observation of patterns that have allowed me to find cars in the holes of the pattern. I've gotten a flood of new cars. It worked very well from late 13 through 14. Results for early 13 and 11 have been less stellar but new cars are being found nonetheless. I think I'll be under 100 missing wagons soon.

#350 ·
As always, all prior links take you to the latest revision. The only update this time is on wagons. If you look at the sedan and coupe tabs you will see I've started setting up the sheet to add more data but I haven't input any actual new data.

Down to one missing 2014 VIN. I've narrowed down the build for that car though so its build is known, just not its VIN. As I mentioned previously, all 2011 build combination lines were also already filled in. I'm down to something like 49 cars that don't have their boxes filled in and over 90% of the VINs are now on the list. Over 70 new VINs on the list since the last update! I didn't think I'd ever figure out a way to come up with that big of a group in one shot from where I was.

#352 ·
Yeah, I don't see it happening again. I was able to find them because they built them in a patterned manner in groups only on certain days for most of 2014 after the 3rd gen CTS came in and some of the end of 2013 after the ATS came in. Those remaining 120ish cars I haven't identified will be hard to get the VINs for without incrementing through all of production. The last missing 2014 I believe is probably in a group of 1000 cars between September 20-24 but there's a possibility of a 6000 car window it could be in. That's a pretty large number of cars to increment through which is why I narrowed down the build with reports. It's also doing all that work knowing there's only 1 car there to find. I'm hoping to somehow identify some groups to increment in where there are a bunch of cars in a smallish VIN window. A build month I know there are several cars missing from with limited production. I don't know if that even exists.

Someone asked me about an 09 that had a reasonably low VIN number. As part of that inquiry I've found the first V2! This link seems to be a duplicate of a for sale listing of the car from 2014?

It is red, auto, no sunroof, the link says black interior but it is really black with the cashmere inserts. Non-recaro, as far as I know Recaro was not available in that color. Kind of surprised GM sold it. Interesting option combo for the first car. The person who asked me about their car actually has a clone to it which helped prod me to find the first car. This car was used by GM. The person who had the first CTS-V assigned to them is laughably unnoteworthy. He has to have been in a different position then but still not talking about upper management or anything like that.

Thought this was an interesting addition to the thread. Updates to the sheet aren't dead but I haven't done enough since the last update to be worth uploading again yet.

I don't care what the Admins say about you - you're a good man! :D

I'm not going to say this will never be updated again. It probably will be. But it's possible it isn't. Should be the same link as always

Sedan and Coupe now have a break down of exterior color + Recaro + transmission + model year. In addition to what has been there before.

Now for the wagons, pretty happy to be to this point. 67 VINs missing. That means there are 1700 VINs even on the list. The option combination for EVERY V Wagon is accounted for whether I have the VIN or not. The build month of all but 1 V Wagon is accounted for whether I have the VIN or not. For cars I don't have VINs for I can see build months for AVS (all vehicles sold). So, the cars that show on the table as scrapped by GM don't show up there. I think it is likely that car was scrapped but can't say for sure.

The only thing all wagon owners can't say at this point is My wagon is number XXX out of 1767. Now, a whole bunch of people can figure that out. No one in 2012 can because that's where that missing build month car is. But everyone in 2014 except for the few built in September can. A whole bunch built in 2011 can. And a good number of 2013 cars the number among wagons could be figured out. Basically if there are no cars missing from your build month you're good there.

Black with titanium is definitely a super rare thing. The distribution of interior color is not at all consistent from one exterior color to the next. I can run a report on that and get you a number. 09 only is easy. Sedans are a bit of a pain in the ass for checking across all model years because GM changed RPO codes for paint and interior colors so it takes multiple reports to do all years but I can do it. It'll probably be a week or two before the queue is short enough to run the reports. Exterior color + interior color is the thing I think I've heard asked about the most at this point so if I do another round of sedan and coupe updates it will be that.

#360 ·
v wagon,

Thank you for doing black Coupes! :D

You've put in a lot of your time and effort doing this and it's very appreciated. Of all the car owner's websites, the CTS-V owners on this forum are the Proudest Car Owners of ALL! The CTS-V is the best car Cadillac has ever made. No matter where it's assembled, I think of Cadillac as always being an American car with a long history of elegance and design and adding to that...SPEED. It has no equal for Speed and Beauty, both. And comfort.
Thank you again, for gathering the info and posting it. (it's like an Ancestry website for CTS-V's!).

I've started doing exterior color + interior color. Not sure when it will actually be finished. But my I don't know if I'll update this again sure didn't last long, LOL. I started with blue coupe interior just because I'm intrigued by the super rare things even if there's next to no one out there that owns them to even ask for that.

Since the last upload (June 25,2018) I've got one more V Wagon VIN (bringing the total to 1701/1767 with all missing VIN build combos known), exterior color + Black/Cashmere Interior for Sedans, and exterior color + blue interior for Coupes done. If someone wants one of those numbers I'll post it but probably won't upload again until I get the other interior colors done too. I started with the rarest of the rare and limited model years so the number of people interested in just those things is probably low. I had PMed Lbar about his request and never heard back so I haven't actually done black+lt titanium yet.
