Have you done any basic electrical diagnosis at the transmission connector yet? Power, ground, communication circuits and terminal tension? I can get you connector endviews and schematics is needed.

These are the ones that I have been referencing, but open to more details if available.

You pretty much have everything. If you have power, communication and ground at that connection you should be good. But since you have tried other known good tcms that obviously isn’t the issue. Multimeter should find your problem.

I'm only getting 2.6 volts on the communication wires (tan/tan with a black stripe).

I have the harness half way pulled up top where I can check for damage and other unknown issues.

If you have some that you are curious about, test resistance instead of voltage, if you have a break or a bad wire that will tell you.
Thanks! I'm no wiring fan at all. I'll give that a try.

I found it interesting that when I pulled back the plastic wire loom and wads of black tape on the TCM connector and back of the OBDII port, I can see small pin insert holes in the wires that I am interested in (Tan and tan with black stripe). I am guessing those were from testing.

Someone else has been in here before.......

Poking around some more with the wiring.

I see that the wires of interest are tightly wound. Like some one put them in a drill and twisted them. Wondering if that is a problem?

I've seen that on audio equipment like what I have in the trunk for the extra amp.

I'm tempted to pull it out and unwind it.

it could still be a battery issue. Do you know anyone who has a known good battery that you could borrow to see if the code clears? It would be easier to rule out a battery issue that going through all of that the wiring. These cars do strange things when the battery starts to die.

If the wires look suspect it may be a fair place to look. When I disassembled my harness I don't recall seeing any like that or in a factory "twisted pair" setup. Building on the above post, you could also throw a jump pack on the battery to make sure you're getting all you need. I had an 08 Ram 2500 cummins a couple years ago do something similar, ended up being a poor connection at the terminal on the drivers battery that was making the whole truck go limp. Wild because it was on a brand new battery, and I nearly had to bust the connector getting it tight enough to be happy, but it never happened again.

For my own sanity I triple checked the battery again.

12.89v at the battery
12.25 at the underhood fuse box
12.0v on the aeroforce gauge.

Did you ever figure this out? I am currently having the same problem.
Unfortunately not. I am about to be a victim of Eminent Domain for the Interstate 540 bypass that is taking my house and land, so I have been downsizing everything in preparation for the move.

Hell Black Betty might even be for sale soon........

I did wash it and drive it (stuck in limp mode) around the neighborhood. Pretty sure that I scared some old people and babies with the open exhaust.

FINALLY something positive has come from the CoronaVirus social distancing mandate. I ordered a new underhood fuse box a couple weeks back and it arrived yesterday. While I was quarantine at home today, I put it in and confirmed it was the problem!

All the DIC / CEL engine lights are gone and I drove around the block. Black Betty shifted through all gears in auto mode and in manual mode I could see the gear selection and change the gears.

Now I can get to the shop to build out the exhaust and start working on the tune.

Long time getting this resolved but I have finally breathed life back into this stalled project.

Great news finally!

Congrats! Actually Finding and resolving the issue I'm sure feels great!

Damn it.

I tried 4 different TCMs with no change in behavior.

I went back and checked / tightened every ground I could think of:

Trunk by the battery
Back of both heads
Under the intake
Behind the passenger headlight
Top strap on top of the passenger tire well
Driver's side kick panel
Under the rear seat on the Fore fuel system
Trunk around the Bose amp and Alky set up

I strongly dislike this car at the moment.
