Starter problems?

Anyone had their starter go out? Thought it was my battery but after a test it came out perfect... Everything works in the car and voltage is good, but the starter would click and not turn over. It took my buddies 2500hd hooked up under the hood and another dmax hooked up to the trunk battery to start the car. Local shop and Cadillac are both saying a bad starter due to it over heating causing the brushes to lock up and thus needing the extra cranking amps to start. Any experience on this?

Pull the starter and see if it spins freely. If it does, that's obviously not the problem. I've never heard of brushes expanding to the point of seizing the armature, since graphite has such a high temperature resistance (2000*C?).

Maybe your pistons are seized! I joke I joke.

IMGONE so what all did you buy exactly to fix the issue? I plan on just replacing the starter as I've already bought a new one... But what about the wire, ends, fuse, etc so I know exactly what I'm looking for to buy and whatnot. Thanks in advance... The cars starting a running fine ATM but I'm gonna go ahead and nip it in the ass before it gets out of hand

I went to the welding supply and bought welding lead wire, copper battery terminal ends, a 150amp audio fuse breaker, and a new starter because the heat cooked the one the one that was on there. You can use audio amp wire but I didn't because I wasn't sure how it would hold up against the Heat and oils.

And I bought a crimper to install the copper ends on the wire. You can buy one or I can ship you mine and you ship it back when you are done with it. I think it was only like $15 or $20
