Questions about copper downpipe gasket

When I pulled my downpipes with the cats on them off the manifolds I noticed they have a copper ring as a gasket...looks like it sits down in there and possibly crushes when installed?

Anyone know if these are supposed to be 1 time use? Replaced after theyve been compressed or what?

Well first I would like to say, lame ass comment.

Then I would like to say you're wrong.

Down pipe is just a term to identify a piece of piping that comes after a turbo or manifold that goes down into a mid section.

Just cause its a more common term in the turbo world doesnt mean it only applies to turbo cars, jeez.

Even ZZP sells down pipes for supercharged 3800 series GM cars.....http://shop.zzperformance.com/store/p/249-ZZP-Downpipes.aspx

So what would "they" call it?

That's crazy that we have a spokesman for the entire general car world here at CTS-VOwners.com!

About the NOS thing, its the same as calling a tissue a kleenex or cotton swap a qtip....It's called a brandnomer or generic trademark. It's pretty common when a company dominates a market for this to happen although I don't see how this is relevant here.

I didnt call it a flowmaster, I called it a downpipe.
