Anyone have one installed or any sound clips etc? What kind of gains did you see.

Going to be doing this with a 2.4 upper and Id or FIC 850s.

I've been running a BTR1 for about 4 yrs now. With headers, cats and stock muffs, you can definitely tell it has a cam. But it's not obnoxious. I had no problem giving up the 10-15 peak hp to have a nice daily driving cam without surge issues at any rpm.

Most will say go bigger. Been there done that. IMHO, with a blower car, you don't need a big crazy cam. I've lived with my BTR 1 for the last 4 yrs and I still love it.

I'm one of the few that had the "balls" to with a smaller cam.;)

Here's a video after it was in:

That sounds amazing.

My issue is that I have a rear muffler delete on my coupe. Stock headers cats everythibg is stock except i removed the rear suitcase muffler. Im worried that it will be incredibly loud with that muffler gone.....thought?

I spoke with Tooley the other day and decided to go with his Stage II. You are maintaining excellent drivability with no surging and still get more power closer to the Stage III. Also, if you are running stock exhaust with the Stage II, it will be mainly quiet,

Thaks for all the input guys. Going to be an interesting build. Doing a 2.4 upper with the BTR stage 1 cam

Any updates, how did the build turn out? I'm trying to decide whether to cam or not to cam, my current mod list is pretty much the same as yours.

Currently installed is a, Corsa axle-back and Airaid, in the garage waiting to be installed, I have the following.

1. ZL1 Lid with reinforced brick
2. IDE 850 Injectors
3. BMR Ice Tank
4. Vadder Dual HX
5. Varimax Pump

I'm trying to decide on whether to go with an upper/lower pulley combo or just an upper, as mentioned to cam or not to cam, which cam, BTR or Matt at GP Tuning cam (any thoughts from you guys), and of course the whole header debate has to be in there somewhere....lol! If I do headers they will have to be catted, I live in California and don't want the headache of dealing with trying to get the car smogged. Also for the cam, which stage, and will I have to change the valve train internals (would rather not) to support my chosen cam.

I’ve had the BTR1 since 2012. If that tells you anything. Most get annoyed/tired of driving the V with a bigger cam. If it’s a track car, that’s a different story. I still love my BTR1 and still enjoy driving the car.

I’m in the same situation with a stage 2-3 BTR cam . Definition when you guys mean surge does it want to shut off like the rpms drop to much ?? How does that work out in A6 trans like mine . Obviously manual you apply more throttle & ride the clutch correct ?? Can anyone explain 2-3 drivability ??

The larger cam's can be tuned to be more streetable and the surging is when you are coming to a stop or idling it will want to push though the brakes that all I found. I was able to adjust the tune around that and lower the idle some but some decide on a stall converter to fix that issue also. A good tuner with a large cam is needed especially on a stock A6 but very doable!

Settle down big cam people. Let’s not get our rocker bearing in a bunch. Lol! The title of this thread was BTR 1 Cam that started over 3 yrs ago. I’d guess about 10% of V owners that put in a cam, put in a stage one. It may very well be less than 10%. The rest go larger. There is nothing wrong with that. There is a lot of time invested in a cam swap, so most figure they might as well go bigger. Thank goodness we live in America (sorry, I can’t forget about our northern friends in Canada) and have that choice! I’ve owned way too many V8s over the years with big cams as track cars, weekend cars and DD. I guess I’m just getting old. I like a little extra air flow without the surging. And since I do my own wrenching at home, it doesn’t cost me anything extra to go with a smaller cam except a few busted knuckles.
I’ve seen plenty of Vs with Stage 2-3 and bigger cams, and most perform great!!! They WILL make more power with the right supporting mods. Just know that, no matter how good a tuner is, it will not drive like stock. And that’s ok! I love to hear a nice big cam in a V. I just personally like to drive one that has better street manners.

I was prepped and ready to add a stall converter but allot of guys here recommended against it due to the load it puts on driveline parts. So I gave it a go stock with some tune tweaks, You know it's there for sure you can watch the whole car shake when outside of it! but I think it's wild having a Caddy sound like that!

You'll feel shake from a big cam, but the whole surge issue is from bad tuning. BTR stage 3 torque cam here with great road manners. Even my wife made a comment about how stock it felt in regular driving, besides the increased noise and a little rock at idle.

I wouldn't go less than a stage 2 cam for the hassle, but just me. I've heard stage 2 cars tuned to idle with very little chop and perfect manners.

LT1Z 2.5 cam here with WCCH 2.5 heads from Karch remote tuned by Pat G. No drivability issues and I couldn't be happier. The cam and heads definitely woke the car up - night and day difference from my previous mods.

Are you doing lifters?

Didn’t plan on it but I’m sure you are going to hit me with some knowledge
The factory trunnions have been known to come apart even on stock engines all over the LS world it's cheap insurance to get the kit and it's easy to install. I installed my Straub kit in less than a hour with a press but a vise works also.
Guess I’ll call Tyler & out in a order for them
