It was hotter than hell today - 106* ambient which I know is a sign that I need to move to a different part of the world....
On the way home from the store, the DIC flashed the "Service Battery Charging System" message and the battery symbol light was on as well. I checked the battery terminals for voltage when I got home and the charging system showed 12.4 volts with the car running. I replaced the alternator with a Delco about 6 or so months ago and hope like hell that it isn't the alternator acting up.
I read about the current sensor on the ground cable and would like to know if there is a way to test that. Also - is there a fusible link at the alternator that I should check?
I let the car set for a while and started it up and the message was gone and it was charging up to 14.2 volts according to the DIC so it appears it may be a heat related issue.
I changed the battery before I changed the alternator so I believe that both should be fine unless I got a bad apple and would appreciate hearing from anyone that has had this particular issue. I haven't done any work to the car in months but would like to find the time to install the 2.5 cam kit that has been sitting in my office since March but I also need to get some accessories and WCCH heads to complete the installation.
Thanks in advance!
