So, im getting my 06 cts v monday at the latest, tomorrow if im lucky. i had to cosign with my mom so they over nighted documents to her, and she overnighted them back earlier today. Yeah im 20 and im broke give me a break haha. So i keep hearing that the rear diff is well, crap. i know nothing of cars internals and am slowly learning from the internet. i heard welded diff is best? do i need to swap my diff or just change the oil in it often? i did get some sort of warranty if the tranny breaks 100 bucks etc but no oil changes or whatever. will i still have the risk of blowing it if its welded? how much is a new one? or a stronger one? any answers are appreciated since i am a complete noob to all of this. ive actually never drifted as all my previous cars were front wheel drive. one v6 and two 4 cylinders with turbos. i feel like a new man now.

Your best option would be to weld the ring to the pinion gear.
