SO I went to change my Harmonic Balancer today and found the crank bolt came out with VERY little effort. I thought I was bending my cheap Harbor Freight breaker. I was prepared to fight it and had a 4' pole ready to add to my breaker bar but NOPE. It had to be well under 100 ft lbs and came right out. It also didn't look like there was any thread locker residue on it and nothing on the washer face or underside of the bolt. There was some oil on the treads I cleaned off before the pic.

P.S. Pay no attention to the thumb. I smashed it about a month ago and waiting on the nail to fall off.

You're not going to lose that nail.

The stock LSA crank bolts are black and tty.

But the crank is keyed, so although yours was under torqued, the balancer is not relying on big torque to keep balance from slipping.

Sounds like a good time for an ARP (unless you already got one).
