Just got my cutouts welded on my stock exhaust yesterday. Sounds so much better now, but I noticed at full throttle there is that loud "whistling " sound. Only at full throttle. The first time I heard it I thought my tires were spinning. I read an old post where it was happening to some but not the majority. Some were saying it could be the bend if the exhaust under the front seat, but nothing definitive. Has anyone had this issue lately?

Stock everything besides airaid. And the cutouts are right before the mufflers.

Open. Haven't run full throttle with them closed yet. Will try when I get home from work.

Here is a picture of their placement on the exhaust. I wouldn't think it's location would be an issue, but 🤷🏾‍♂️

Welds look like shit, but location is about normal. Maybe a vacuum leak? Haven’t encountered one on a V yet, but usually a whistle is vacuum from my experience. Hard to hear over the S/C tho lol.

Haha @ the welds! I can't even hear the whine over that noise. It's kinda like the sound when the seal on my rv windshield was coming off. Or when a window is cracked open and air is rushing in at high speed and creates a whine/whistling noise. Hard to explain, but it sounds like shit at wot.

I’m thinking a vacuum leak somewhere. Maybe somebody else will chime in that’s been in this situation. I’d deff try driving with them closed, see if it’s still there.

My guys TIG weld every day. My God, those welds are awful! I would never let anything go out of my shop looking like that. Of course, we do things like kitchen countertops and such, so the welds we do must look good, and they do.

Take it back to the shop that did it. They screwed up. Get @tinman guys to clean up them welds lol.

Haha! I can do a lot of things, but welding isn't one of them. How could they have messed up? I'm not the smartest man in the world, but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn 😁. If there was a leak somewhere in the weld, wouldn't I hear some sort of noise when the cutouts are closed? Especially at wot? Besides the welding, there is nothing else he could have messed up.

At this point without any other information and not being there to diagnose the car, I’d be back at the shop and let them figure it out. I’m sure you paid a pretty penny to have it done, should be done right.

That is a odd look for the cutouts, meaning the position of them. I will take a pic or two when I get time to show you how mine look. I have never had any odd noise from mine other then thunder when they are open.

Being open at a 90 deg angle to the main pipe may be the issue. It's basically blowing air over an opening in a pipe, just like playing a flute. The welds do look like shit, but I don't think they are the cause of the noise.

That's an issue I was thinking too. I ordered the black box (10900) for the reason of being able to adjust the angle of opening, but qtp sent the red box (10901) instead. It's nice to just press my homelink and not have to hold it for 5 seconds, but I already sent in a question to qtp a couple hours ago to see if there was a way to adjust the flaps without swapping controllers. Waiting for their response.

I tried a few different positions by unplugging it while the flap was opening or closing to hold a different position. Seems to be slightly less noise when almost closed, but the noise is still there under WOT.

Probably the flute scenario mentioned above. Try shortening the pipes connected to the cutouts. I've been running cutouts for over 3 years now with no issues and no whistling.
