Carvana dropped my 2016 CTS V3 off on Monday but I haven't really been able to drive it around due to being loaded up at work, I work from home, long hours, and don't see sunlight often.

Yesterday my schedule freed up and I was able to go do a number of overdue errands and had a few cool car experiences that I haven't had in over a decade.

The first was stopping by the gas station to top off my tank and check out the higher gas prices where a guy walked over from another pump to tell me, "I know what that car is and your's is badass".

The second was going to the store where I parked far away from the entrance to prevent door dings and while walking out I saw an older man walking across the parking lot over to my car. Same thing happened, but this guy was chatty wanting to talk about the car, and being a car enthusiast, I love any kind of car chats whether it's mine or more so about someone else's car.

Lastly, on the way home, an ATS-V that looked exactly like my car but shrunk down pulled up next to me. I was oblivious just sitting there leaning against my window staring blanky forward processing all the many things that I'm overdue finishing. The light goes green and he pulls forward but not fast at what I'd size up as making himself noticeable having seen me staring into nothing. He didn't seem to want to race, just pulled ahead to merge in front of me where the road turns into a single lane at pretty much regular speed where we drove out in sync in the same direction. Now, I live a bit out of town and it turned out that he lives in a neighborhood right near where I live.

Such a cool real first day out, I haven't had a nice car like this in a long long time and remember these moments that car people revel in. I'm so glad to have purchased this car to get my head back into the gears. I'm going to find more opportunities to get out of the house more often and into the sunlight to enjoy driving this beast.

Just wait 'til the old guys start offering you BJ's in the parking lot because they want a ride in your... wait - this is the V3 section. Nevermind.

I just edited my reply to stay on topic as you pointed out. Didn't realize there are the lounge and NSFW sections. I'll be following those now.

Enjoy! I told my wife dont worry this car only impresses car guys lol! Everyone else sees it and thinks "here comes grandpa in his caddy." I kind of like the sleeper effect. My last car was a Panamera and everyone and their mom in my neighborhood suddenly knew where I lived.

 my wife asked me if I was going through a mid life crisis or similarly to impress younger women. 🌮

That was a very cool first day. I catch people recording mine all the time, but my car sticks out a little more I think in Alabama than say it would in Cali.
I also enjoyed your story telling. You have the gift of gab and could definitely be a writer if you wanted to. Take that as you will since it's the opinion of a carpenter, but I did enjoy the read.

Thank you for the compliment. I was in marketing for a while which is where I may have picked it up. But then I saw Ford vs. Ferrari and puked on my career seeing what they did to Ken Miles.

A V3 is surprisingly rare. Out here in CA, I see 1-2 per year out on the road.
It's rare EVERYWHERE. I live in shit NJ, the most densely populated place on the planet next to Punjab, and I've only ever seen 1 other V3 in my 8 years of living here. I've probably only seen two V2 wagons, and maybe 5-10 V2 sedans/coupes in all that time, too, but since they've developed a cult following over time, everybody knows about them. Funny thing is that if people hear you DO have a V through word of mouth, but sight unseen (think gearhead, some mechanic, teen, or street racer type), they'll ask questions thinking it's a V2. I don't even correct them. It's like the Gen 3 never existed, that's why it's ageless...and forever "new."

Agreed. I'm in Houston and I hardly see them at all. Maybe a V2 every once in a while but I've only seen a V3 1 or 2 times. They just didnt make that many of them.

Haha...
All due respect, your story writing has certainly been experienced by all V owners present. My wife and daughter still have yet to ride in my V that I've owned for well over 2 years. NBD. Their choice, not mine.

All right. Must admit. Still trying to make the 50 post minimum rule so Karch can GFH.
So I'll give you another reason to make a post.

Not a good idea to piss off the Mods here.
