So I recently suffered the tragedy of a front end damage accident in my beloved 13 V Coupe. She needs a new hood. And me and my bodyshop decided rather than replacing the stock hood, we could order the Power Hood and just temporarily repair the oem hood while we wait the claimed 16 weeks (probably more like 6-9 months) for the hood to ship. I opted for the full fiberglass hood because CF would be overkill for a daily driver, way more than I wanted to spend, and God knows how long the actual wait for CF would be (a year +). Plus I want it to look like my stock hood looked with the factory silver with satin black vinyl overlay. But with the extra beefy cowl and 2 extractor vents. But I'm wondering if there's any issues I should watch out for whenever the hood does arrive? I saw the recently mentioned issue about the FG gassing out and bubbling the paint that one forum member experienced. Is that something anyone else has dealt with? What do I need to make sure is done for prep to avoid that or any other known issues with the Weapon X full fiberglass hood? Or any issues I should look out for with the extractor vents? Like, if it rains out is there gonna be problems with water pouring into the engine bay and causing issues? It's annoying how I lust over things until I eventually end up buying them. Then AFTER I've placed the order I start to stress out and obsess over possible future issues

I hate to say it, but from what I've heard about weapon X over the past few years, I'd almost rather take my chances with a Chinamade hood off ebay.

Man, I'm glad I'm not the only one that's noticed their "decline" in service. I most definitely would've gone a different direction if their hood wasn't the only one I didn't find to be too much with the ventilation. All the other hoods have that ungodly looking massive vent. To each their own I guess

I did read your posts. That's what sparked my concern with the gassing issue. I started this thread to see if anyone else had that issue or if it was a rare occurrence. And if there was something I should do to avoid that happening, or any other issues to be ready for. My hood was ordered a few weeks ago before I found your posts though. So I'm just trying to prepare for preventive measures

Well good luck. I hope yup have plenty of patience and not in a rush. But when you do get it, leave it out in the sun before you do anything with it
