Doing some digging on a CTS-V I’m thinking about owning soon. Wondering if “Service contract issued” or “engine checked” means that the supercharger was replaced. apparently the dealership that it was serviced at most of it’s life was sold so the service records no longer exist. Don’t want to move on it if the blower hasn’t been replaced.

Call and ask maybe? Even if the dealership closed there should still be a GMVIS report that would reflect most dealer work and all warranty work.

I’d imagine a service contract issued is just that, one of those things they always try to sell you while your in the office signing all the paperwork. If the car is in good shape otherwise I wouldn’t be concerned about the blower. A solid isolater is an easy and cheap fix to do yourself if it’s needed.

Oh those records exist.
I assumed so but I can’t tell if he’s playing dumb or genuinely can’t get ahold of them, either way Ctarb made a good point, I’ll end up swapping the isolator out anyway and probably stick a zl1 lid on it, and of course reinforce the brick. Thank you both.

I’ll give it a go, definitely wouldn’t hurt anything.

They most definitely do. Since they unquestionably used a computer system tied in to GM, and all the service records were recorded by GM.

A few years ago, I bought a used GMC Sierra 2500HD. It was a 1 year old lease return from Texas. I bought it in Florida. And it was at a no-name dealership, not GM. The guy had no service information on the truck. But I had a friend who was a service manager at a Chevy dealership. I called him up, gave him the VIN, and he gave me all the service info, including generic oil changes and a couple of recalls that were taken care of.

GM has the records, you just need to find a way to get at them...

I bought my V at a private dealership, didn't know, didn't care if shit was fixed, but when i had to see the over-priced Caddy dealer, I inquired and they had info that the supercharger was serviced.
Simple ask and ye shall receive.
