Ok... So I've got my '09 A6 V trapping consistantly @ 142 to 143mph with an average 60ft of 1.58. Best is 10.10 in the 1/4. Running 17in Mickey Thompson's drag radials in rear with 18in skinnies up front. I'm thinking it's time for the 15in conversion to get my 60ft down.... Thoughts? What slicks do most go with when they do conversion? Any help would be greatly appreciated guys.

Great mph! Dropping a few pounds might get you in the 9s with some good weather and track prep.

Less expensive then the 15" conversion!

You don’t need 15’s to run 9’s. If traction is a problem, You need to pull some timing out of the lower rpm cells where the car runs through leaving. Try different launch rpm’s too. What tire pressure do you run? 21 usually worked best for me, but down to 18 is fine.

whats the suspension setup like? If stock leave on tour mode. you'll get the most weight transfer in tour. If you're lowered on eibachs the 60' wont improve drastically but you can still run a 9 depending on how you launch.

Just curious. Which drag radials? I'm thinking about switching from the ET Street S/S to the ET Street R. My best 60s are 1.61x before E85. No runs yet this year.

I didn't see an aftermarket converter in your mod list, but I can tell you that a converter would likely put you in the 9's easily! I'm making less hp than you with bolt-on's only, stock cam 6.2 and my full weight wagon will 60', wheels-up, 1.48-1.51 on M&H 275/50/17 (28" tall) DR's @ 16psi with a Precision Industries billet, triple disc lock-up Vigilante converter, stalling at 2600.

Thanks man... I'm going suggest that to my tuner. I'm running 14lbs in my MT 17in

Thanks..stall converter eh? I was thinking that might be an option for sure. What are you running for ET at the track?

Add more tire pressure, you are crushing the tire and probably wadding it up. I cut 1.42 with the stock converter. An aftermarket converter will add torque multiplication likely making your traction problem worse. 143 mph should put you in the 9.7x's once you get the 60' figured out.

If you are not on beadlocks, mark your rim+tire with paint marker or chalk prior to the run, this will tell you if your tire is spinning on the rim. I've done 1.4x 60 with stock TC, idk at what point one needs higher TC, since we start making good tq ~1900rpm and up (not sure about stock cam).
Also street Rs are are the way to go over SS, just start with 20/21 PSI and work your way down (like has been mentioned already). 18.5 psi is the sweet spot for me, but yours could be different.

What rpm do you launch at?

Thanks again. I'll raise the tire pressure this weekend and see what happens. You're right, should be in the 9s.

I knew my car had potential to run 9's after I added e85. I started trying when my track opened in February running 10.1x. I didn't actually run the first 9 (a 9.84) pass until November of that same year. It took ~80 passes to iron out all the little bugs and chip away at it. You'll get there, just keeping working at it and experiment. You'll probably learn a whole lot in the process.
