I’m considering buying a CTSV 2nd gen that’s located in FL. I’m in NH.
made the mistake of getting into some online system that shot my info to 100s of transport companies to get a quote. A week later my phone is starting to ring less… solid do not recommend that approach.

that said, prices quoted were 400-900 for open transport.
im wondering if someone has used one of these companies that run this route, especially if it was a good or bad experience

any insight or referrals are super appreciated, pulling the trigger soon, I think I’ve found the right V for me, just 1500 miles away !

Honestly? Fly down and drive back. May actually work out to be cheaper depending...

It's what I did with my Vagon, flew out to Michigan and drove it back to CT.

I just bought my V last month and I didn't trust anyone to transport it. Out of all the people I know that have had a car transported it seems like 75% of them have had issues with the service or damage on the vehicle from the transporter.

I took a big gamble but the previous owner seemed like a stand up guy and knew what he was doing, and the price was right for what I was getting, so I took the risk on a highly modified car. Flew to Chicago with my dad, then rented a car and drove another 2 hours into Indiana, picked up the car, went back to Chicago to drop the rental (alternate drop location was additional 800 dollars that weekend wtf?), then drove all the way back to AZ. About 2000 miles. Car had zero problems with the trip thankfully. Only downside was getting about 14mpg on pump gas and 11mpg on e85 when I could find it, and also the car was tuned for 93 which disappears about halfway back but I was able to do make it with the help of some VP octane booster when I could only get 91.

Damn, im about in that same boat - feels like the right car, the right seller, good guy, good deal, etc... the drive back costs me 2 days, i dont think im capable of driving 22 hrs straight. Its the time savings for me thats got me hesitating on flying and driving back.

Yeah this drive was like 26 hours of seat time, but had to stop every 200 miles or less for fuel and to eat etc.
Ended up splitting the drive up into 3 days and staying in hotels, it was a long trip even with two people. I would have driven my F350 and enclosed trailer out there and back but didn't have the time off from work and the trailer tires are close to aged out and would have had to buy 6 new ones.

All in all between two plane tickets, rental car, 3 hotels, fuel, and food it cost about 1800. Also the rear tires were shot by the time we got back as well, it was on a drag pack with M&H Racemasters which are only good for like 5000 street miles.

I always prefer the fly out drive it back method. I don’t trust most of these transport companies these days.

Arthur - (331) 251-5444 , tell him, Jorge, from Miami with the Black Cadillac CTS-V sent you.

Arthur took care of bringing my V down from Chicago in an enclosed trailer. ($1,750)

A buddy of mine bought a 14 Couple from a dealer in Texas and they transported it up. Arrived with scratches in the hood and driver's door. They fixed it, no argument, but it was still a huge PITA. And you're buying a car sight unseen. You do not know that it's as good as described. Before plunking down any money, I'd want to at least look the car over, crawl underneath it, and take it for a short spin. So the advice you're getting is IMO excellent. An airplane ticket from MA to FL should be <$200. You might even be able to get there direct, from Manchester. Fly down, look the car over, if you still want it, drive it back.

I haven't in a few years now, but I used to drive back and forth to FL from MA twice a year with my wife and her horses. But some years, I'd come back to MA and drive my Corvette down for the winter. It's a long drive, but it's easy. 95 the entire way (at least until you get to NYC). And the halfway point is south of Virginia so pretty much every exit on the highway has a Hotel, a Mobil gas station, a Waffle House and a Starbucks. So I'd drive until I was in North Carolina and then start looking for a place to spend the night.

What I would NOT do: bargain-hunt for transport. You need a shipper that does dedicated car transport NOT some LTL "oh yeah we can do that" guy. I knew a guy that had a car shipped CA to TX by a friend's friend deal. It arrived at a truck terminal on a fuckin flatbed... they unloaded it with pair of forklifts. Didn't actually hurt it, but dammmmmmn.
Anyone that is less than a grand, I'd stay away, but that's just me.
My boss sold a super-mint AMG convertible online. The buyer required a shitload of pics, we obliged with twice as many. he was UBER concerned about the front air dam and any possible chips. It had zero marks on it, even sent him a video close-up of the air dam side to side. He sent a transport company to get it, one of the 6 or 7-car double-decker jobs and I was there videoing to make damned sure that IF any damage occurred, it would be clear whom to blame. The truck driver was amazing, very skilled and super careful and he loaded the car (lower deck, center) and didn't harm a hair on it. We KNOW it can be done.
The buyer later confirmed that is was delivered without a scratch. If you could get THAT guy, you'd do well. But who knows?

My car came from Tennessee to me in RI via open transport. It went through a snow storm in New Jersey and was completely covered in salt so it was filthy. Other then that it was pretty painless. Think it cost me around 700$

If you decide to fly down/drive back and the seller is not near a commercial airport see if the car can get to Daytona. We can house it and you can fly to DAB or MCO, come to my house and pick up the car...

Fly/Drive. I flew to Ann Arbor to purchase it and drove to Jacksonville. I loved absolutely every minute except when it rained. Absolutely the best way to get YOUR car. Where is it in Florida?

Allied Auto transport is decent based on the couple times I've used them. But I would want to fly down, look it over and drive back if it were me. Two days is cheap vs buying a vehicle that could potentially be different than what you thought

For your peace of mind, have the car checked at a dealership or shop with a good reputation.

Finding a good transport company can be difficult as most are brokers who put the job on line and the guy with the lowest bid and a semi usually gets it. Not a good method for the end user. I was in the same boat when I purchased my CTS-V. It was in Connecticut and I'm on West Coast. I used a Cadillac dealership to check the car and tried scheduling a pick up starting with the larger transport companies. One of the biggest and most expensive said they could pick up the car in several weeks, store it for several months before transporting it to my location! In the end, I went with Interstate Auto Transportation. They have their own trucks and enclosed trailers and drivers. Everything went well. I'm looking to use them again very soon as my new CT5-V Blackwing will be delivered to the dealership in a couple of weeks! This time it'll be transported from Texas to the West Coast. Can't wait! Hoped this helped. Best of luck to you.
