I have a 14 V Wagon 6MT. The rear output shaft seal was leaking, so I followed the steps posted by generous forum users, but do not know how to install the transmission flange onto the output shaft. I am confident the new seal is in place nicely thanks to the forum recommended 2" PVC pipe, but the install of the flange is questionable. All I did was shove the flange back onto the output shaft and then give it some whacks with a wood block and rubber mallet. How do I know that the flange is fully seated onto the output shaft? Looking toward the seal, I can still see about 1/4" of shiny shaft that makes me believe it may not be fully seated. Any advice to make sure I'm doing this correctly would be much appreciated.
