Problem has been getting more consistent. When using the paddle shifter to decelerate from a higher rpm into 3rd 2nd and 1st, it will shift down into gear but instead of slowing down at a consistent pace it feels like its catching and releasing multiple times almost bucking but more of a slipping clutch feel to it.
Example: going into a turn downshift to 3rd without using brakes car will downshift catch for a second then release, and do this a few times untill the rpms drop below 3k, really hurts your confidence in the turn since you dont know if its going to slow down or how much brake to us.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

How many miles on this trans? Do you beat on it regularly, especially downshifting into 1st from a high rpm?

sounds like a torque converter issue. The shudder issue known on the v3 a8 platform is with the fluid and converter slipping under light load when locked . may be anecdotal but its what i expereinced. If yours has some shutter or had it , may be worth a fluid flush or may be beyond that and hurt clutches in the torque converter.

Do you have hp tuners? some logs of trans tcc alip , apply , input and output speeds would be an easy way to identify.

I second this statement.

Pay attention to this, I had the service done everything checked out, new TC...few k miles...that was after warranty replaced my blown motor due to oil pump failure.
Trans then locked up and exploded on the dyno...TC blew up took out everything. Trans temps everything looked completely normal...It was quite the interesting gremlin..

Now fully built TK max effort trans and FTI billet converter but this is definitely a huge issue and it's literally a crap shoot if you get a good one or bad. It will also cost you power if it starts to go, youll make heat, but youlll lose power....everything else will look normal...
