Thinking about doing the oil pan oil filter bypass delete. Any down sides to doing this?

Can you just unbolt the engine mounts on the bottom of the subframe then lift the engine high enough to get the pan out?

The V2 oil pan doesn't have a bypass.

But yes, you can unbolt the engine mount and raise the engine enough. You may have to pull the lid off the blower to get enough room. It's tricky, but I've done it twice.

Edit:
I have high rise B15 valve covers, removed them for clearance to install the head bolt lift chain mounts. Stock LSA covers may not need to be removed.

I removed engine mount bolts, and lower cradle mount bolts, wedged a 2x4 block under LH RH rear cradle support, and raised the engine approx 1" to get clearance.

2009 Gray V sedan Post 344 in my build thread has a picture of my pan. Maybe the thing in the oil cooler is the filter bypass, seems more like a cooler bypass. You can pull that off without removing the pan.

Yeah that's the cooler bypass and it's external to the pan and doesn't drop oil pressure, just reroutes flow..
There is a FILTER BYPASS up inside the oil filter mount. Some people plug this but there isn't any need to. It only bypasses the filter in the event it were to be plugged, it doesn't relieve oil pressure, just reroutes flow..
If your filter is NEVER changed for many thousands of miles and eventually plugs up, this will keep you going with dirty oil...

The in-pan bypass (relief valve) was used on LSes with the DOD system or VVT. It DOES relieve oil pressure at about 45psi by dumping into the pan. LSAs don't have this.
read here:
This page has some detail and the plug available: for those that need it.

Lol I deleted that radiator oil cooler line. I cut the t out and put a coupler in there.
but that would have been a cool idea.

I'm running remote cooler on pass side fog light.
Yeah, it may seem a little unconventional using such a standard piece of ready to find hardware for the simple task of easily draining a radiator. The hose is not necessary for me, I just use a pan.
