Looks almost home brewed. No air box/divider plate, just tube sections. Thoughts,?

Tough to tell from the picture, but I wouldn't let that air filter near my engine.

What size is that tube ? I mean if it's 4in ID, just because it does not look high end does not mean it won't work.
I agree. It looks Identical to the RPM one I bought, but mine is 5". This style doesn't require a box/divider plate.

If you don't have one, try it out. Shouldn't hurt a thing and then you can decide if you like it. If you don't, it's probably easier to take off than it is to put on and you can always buy something else in the future.

Are you sure you can’t hurt anything?

MAF signal can be all messed up.

It be my 70+ yr old eyes, but that air filter looks like it has too much oil on it to me. It may just be a very dark dry filter. A close up of the filter and one with a filter groove spread to see the valley in between would be helpful.

I don't have any issue just replacing the filter... That seems the prudent move, given the unknown history.

Yeah, reasonably certain provided you do not physically damage the sensor when you are swapping it over, other than that and since this does appear to be made for our car, it is not going to be so far off that it will cause any harm. If it does perhaps cause a stumble, or more likely, just a cel code, it would be easily remedied by putting stock air intake back on.

I honestly just want to hear more whine. I can't consistently put the current (stock) power to the ground, so as much as I have the urge for MORE, I really don't need any more power. But I would like a little more noise. Came to this car from a cammed C6 with headers and NPP exhaust on a switch (basically cutouts). When it was open, it was rowdy. And I miss that. My wife says she doesn't, at all. So I figure maybe some blower whine might tickle my need for a little more attitude without turning her off to the car. Yet.
