Can someone that has a stock midpipe take a look and see if there is both an "H" crossover by the front of the driveshaft tunnel in addition to the "x" crossover at the rear of the tunnel? I seem to have a cast h type crossover at the front and cast x crossover at rear.

I've been assuming that it's setup like that stock, but want to double check. Have googled, and can't zoom in with enough clarity on the pics of the underside to be able to see. If this indeed stock, what's the purpose of having both h and x?

interesting, it does look like an h-pipe but as you said there aren't good close up pictures online. my car is in the shop right now so I can't check underneath it. In the videos below, it looks like a tube welded into sections that aren't slip joints.

I don't own a V3, but I bet if you cut in to that crossover pipe you'll find it only has a small hole it in. I think GM puts these crossovers where they put them to dampen exhaust resonances. It's not for performance, it's for sound...

Yes! Thank you so much! It looked like oem, but wanted to make sure. Long story short, I ruined a cat and have taken it to 2 shops that completely f'ed up my exhaust with small a$$ 2.5" aluminized crush bent pipes and leaks everywhere. So after being pissed, I had to do what I always seem to have to do when I am particular about something of mine....bought a welder, tought myself how to weld and made my own pipes from manifold back to midpipe with nice stainless mandell bends as it should be. Since my welds suck, I sandblasted and coated with v series ceramikote. The temp difference emitted from the exhaust is stunning and highly recommend btw! Thought about cutting that section out with the h if it wasnt oem, but ill leave it since its supposed to be there. Thanks again!
