Stiffer stock height springs?

I have not done any research yet, just looking to get information about what to look at. This is my daily driver and I am not interested in going any lower.

One of the highways I regularly drive has some uneven sections like rolling 2-3 foot hills and I get excessive up and down motion in the rear. It's very quickly damped in less than a second and one up/down transition. The V has 93K miles and I'm on my second set of rear shocks. I haven't eliminated shocks, but I want to consider spring options also. I'm also thinking that after 11-12 years and 93K miles the rear springs may have lost some function.

Like I said this is the very start of my investigation and I'm just looking for information about options.

1. springs are cheap <65 each @ rock auto
2. they show two different part #s depending on your car's option code.
3. MAYBE they are different heights/rates? not sure how to find out other than ordering both and returning one set? :whistling:
4. springs do sag with time. I recall ages ago buying new coils for my (then ten year-old) BB Chevelle to correct its sagging ass and it had the F41 pkg. I recall being shocked that the coils were like twelve bux.

I wish I could tell you the answer to this as I just removed my lowering springs to go back to stock, but I just ordered exactly what I needed based on the trunk code in my own car.
I think I read somewhere the regular CTS has taller springs, not sure if that's something you might play with.

All that to say, it could just be your shocks. Rears seem to go out sooner than the fronts.

Yep, already on 2nd set of rear shocks. When the first set went it was hell over speed bumps. No problem with those now. Just those rolling sections of pavement. After the first oscillation they damp the movement immediately. I think I need to find a lift to take a look. Sounds like I'll go with stack springs if I determine they are part of the problem.

How did you identify you needed rear shocks both times? Leaking fluid? Display indicator?
