Define "tested". How, exactly, was it tested? Are you paying someone to test it for you? If so, have them try a new Starter Motor and confirm that the tester actually works. Starter Motors are pretty hard to damage. I struggle to believe the replacement was damaged overnight just sitting attached to the car. The only way I can imagine that to happen, the Starter would have had to have stayed energized (which could explain the 8V battery). But I can't think of a way it'd stay energized and not make noise. And for it to fail because of that, it would have had to make smoke (as the motor winding insulation slowly burns off) I'm thinking you would have noticed (the smell, even if you weren't there to witness the smoke).I pull the starter and just for fun have it tested again and its bad.
Dammit! Its locked up TIGHT.. I have a forged 408 Iron block I can throw in but I'm going to pull the motor this weekend and see what exactly is Locked up.
Which leads to more Whiskey! Its locked up TIGHT..
