Sounds from front passenger side when going over bumps

Hey guys.

I just picked up a 2014 CTS-V sedan a month or 2 ago. I’ve started noticing a crunching / squeaking sound coming from the front passenger side suspension when going over bumps.

I haven’t noticed any fluid on my garage floor or any weird handling characteristics.

I’m wondering what you guys think it could be? I’m hoping it’s not a mag ride shock going out (fingers crossed). I had a similar sound/issue in my 2012 CTS premium sedan and I believe it was the struts or sway bars.

If it is the mag ride, how much am I looking at to replace them?

Also, does anyone know of any good mechanics in STL MO that you would trust to work on a V? I’d like to stay away from the dealer if possible.

Thanks.

its likely not the mag ride, this is a phantom noise when it gets colder out and seems every time I read a thread on it they end with different results each time

Very likely the upper control arm bushings. About fifty bux for the whole UCA at Rock auto.
Notice in this video where the rubber is no longer bonded to the internal steel tube.
sounds like my noise
Could also be swaybar bushings, though thats more of a creaking noise. I've replaced everything in the front end of my car besides those and I have to hose them down with silicone grease and it helps a bit. At some point I'll get ahold of a lift and replace them.
We had that noise in our 2015 V Coupe, it only made that loud crunchy noise when it was cold outside. So, we move to a warmer climate and the noise went away.

Yup, now that it’s not 10 degrees outside the noise is gone. I’m glad I didn’t replace the bushings immediately

It's going to keep coming back every time it gets cold out. There is no escaping it unless you replace the bushings (Sways or Control Arms)
