I had some road rash on the car, it was the only defect in the car. Not enough to warrant painting the whole side of the car but enough that it always bothered and annoyed me. over 2 years ago made my own CF rock guards and I bought a Dr. Colorchip kit that has been next to my desk until today.

I followed the instructions and to be honest, I'm kind of in awe at the results.
One thing they dont tell you that you should do is wipe the area with a prep-sol like product ( wax and grease remover ) which we did. I also warmed the panel a bit with a heat gun because I had just washed and dried the car. I did it inside my shop which was about 63 degrees at the time.

Dont hesitate to pick up a kit and do it yourself. All in maybe little over an hour or so. My original plan was to have a piece of clear paint protection film applied but with how little I drive the car I think im just going to leave it alone.

The pictures speak for themselves, I'm in love all over again

Wow! That looks great!

I've got to get a kit and take care of mine as I have the same problem.

only other thing I would say is if you planned on polishing the car at all do it before the Dr Colorchip because they suggest no polishing or waxing for a month or 2. Im just going to polish the tops out because I somehow got some water spots from the meguirs spray on coating shit. stuff was terrible.

Dr Colorchip works pretty good for what it is. Used it on my V1.

Which kit did you get Rob? I see they have a few. Did you do the clear as well?

Thanks

For rash use the brush and just brush everything, no way can you try to dab that many little spots.
it was the squirt and squeegee kit I dont think they had the plus when I bought it

I have also used Dr. Color chip with good results. For really good results on road rash, I have applied several dab coatings to fill in and level the rock chips followed by sanding the area with 1500 through 3000 grit.

I then buff the area and you cannot tell that there was any road rash at all.

Great stuff.

What is this term “*Rear door”…
wazzat?
I’d would assume for most of us that have wider wheels/tires and the right offset the debris get flung outside the wheel well. If I had a guard of some sort like @RobF300 it would prevent this road rash on the rear door. And front doors for that matter. It’s not as bad as the rears though. Not sure if the vinyl below is doing much. I’d have to pull it to find out.

Does Dr Colorchip make one for the CRT? I can't find it. They only list Red Obsession Tintcoat? No Crystal Red Tintcoat.

I just checked the site for my paint and noticed there's an option for Crystal Red Metallic Tintcoat.
Link? DrColorChip doesn't look like that for me.

AHHH! They don't have it for a 2014! I checked 2013, it's there. I guess I need to double check my label for the right code for my 2014.
