Proud owner of a new to me Vwagon 6MT slick top. One of my side mirrors needs to be repainted and I’ve been digging all over to try to find out how to remove the mirror itself so that I can bring it into a body shop. I found information on how to do it for the first and third gens, but not ours.

Can anyone help with how to remove the entire mirror? TIA

Video shows how to remove the door panel, then you just have to remove plastic cover that covers the bolts behind it and the wiring harness

Is there any way to just pop out the mirror only on the side mirror instead of having to take the whole thing off? door panel and all? I been trying to find ways to do it and only see options for removing the whole mirror. I don’t want to pull on the inside mirror and risk breaking anything. I know on the older models 10 and under I see you could just pull on it and they pop out but can’t seem to find anything on the 11+

What makes you think they are different, the model years that is? I'm not saying they are the same or that they are different, I am just posing the question.

Just an FYI, rather than spending body shop paint money, you might consider these:

Also, you should create an introductory thread. You have a true unicorn btw, in a 6MT slickroof Vagon

And as such it would be sacrilegious to stick that carbon fiber stuff on it! Lol

It’s just based off of what I have seen on YouTube. I can see the process of just pulling / popping out a mirror on cars 2010 and under and different models than the CTSV but I can’t seem to find a tutorial on how to do it for a V of any year . Unless I’m just not looking hard enough lol I assume it would be the same just a pull method but I’m afraid to break it and have to replace the whole thing.

Understand. Just keep in mind that the CTS-V is identical to the CTS in this instance.

Ohh really!? I didn’t know that. Well thank you, that will help in my search now!
The only difference is the drivetrain and suspension as well as some particular body parts like hood, bumpers etc. The interior is identical, all originally designed circa 2006.
