Rear left window can't be opened with front controls

I can't open the rear driver side window with the front controls. I can close it if it's open. It does open and close from the rear door controls like normal.
I have opened the front window switch unit and cleaned everything thoroughly but that didn't change anything.
Did anyone have a similar problem before? Can the window switch unit just be replaced with another one or do I have to relearn or marry it to the car?
