Very cool thanks for the post. A few thoughts. I have tried that mount before in another car and it never did want to stay tight long term. What I did was go with a Blend mount. A little more pricey but very slick. I've used them in all my cars. The blendmount from my old GMC truck fit the V. I have a Max 360. I also use the escort direct wire kit, which allows me to silence the detector without reaching my hand up. The control box also lights up on alert, so I sharpied out the "on" light, and angled it in such a way the alert light blinks in the peripheral because the OLED on the detector isnt super bright and the detector cant always be heard over my exhaust. The smart cord comes in blue and red. The only catch is you have to run a wire down the A pillar and catch power at the fusebox on the drivers side. Not as easy as tapping the mirror like you did.

BMX-2000R Radar Mount MAX II Platinum, MAX360, MAX2, GT-7 (blendmount.com) Damn its 99 dollars now! I dont think I paid more than 60 a few years ago.

It looks really good. What are your thoughts on the performance of it? I've not had a Radar detector in years I don't mind to pay a good amount for one if it works good.
Thanks man! So far, it's saved me about three tickets lol.. For some reason, my right foot is really heavy compared to my left... This radar learns false read points and stores them via GPS tracking so every time I drive the accuracy improves.

Worth the investment for me!

I also run a Max 360; I like it overall but I do have some gripes.
tell me more about the blend mount and the wiring kit. I have mine mounted on the dash pad just to avoid the big curly-cue cord dangling.

What else would you like to know? What are your issues with the 360? I like mine but it is a bit bulky. I see there is a 360c out but I dont feel like dropping the cash. The GPS feature takes a while to come on but when it works its nice that it remembers false alerts. My previous detector was the 9500ix and that thing would never shut the hell up. The 360 also filters out all the falses from blind spot detection and active cruise control.

As for the blend mount, it looks real slick, but on some cars like my last GMC truck, there is a big metal plate behind the trim where the rear view mirror attaches to the glass that blocks the GPS signal 90 percent of the time. So for the truck I switched back to the suction cup. The same mount fit my V3 and works fine. There is an app that worked pretty well but I did not want to pay and I dont like messing with my phone while I drive. Also google maps now shows speed traps too. Another benefit to the mount is it keeps everything tight to the mirror and OEM looking so you dont have a detector and cord in the middle of the windshield begging to be stolen when you park.

The wiring kit is ran under the headliner, down the A pillar and the control box it 3m taped to the center stack. I got power from the fusebox to the right of the dash with an add a fuse. I always forget which fuse to use because in most modern cars damn near the whole car is hot all the time with a canbus system or similar commanding it on or off. I want to say the heated seats circuit is switched.

I misspoke a bit, I run a Max360C (added connectivity). I also had a 9500ix (and an 8300(?)) prior. The Max 360C beats those easily in so many ways. I LOVE and rely heavily on the directional arrows and the GPS functions. I find the Escort (free) app extremely useful for tweaking the settings of the detector (super feature) but don't use it otherwise and have never signed on for Escort Live. If on a road trip I will have WAZE running on the phone.
Issues with the Max 360C...1.) it doesn't 'win' any of the detector shoot outs done by Roy or others. Yes, its up there, clearly an above average performer but it apparently doesn't actually 'kick ass' in any category despite its far above average 700 dollar price. 2. The included LiDar (Laser) detection is useless as it falses so much I have to disable it. Yes, actual falsing, NOT that I 'missed' seeing the source. Note that it doesn't miss Laser... it just pretends there is more around than there is. The display is far too dim at its max setting. The display has a very narrow effective viewing angle. Many times (especially local PD) the device will not audibly alert even though the SCREEN is lit up with signal (K band). I think this has to do with the GPS learning function (which I keep clearing) but actual police radar should never be ignored just because they use a similar location somewhat often. The good news: The device has definitely saved me some grief. I love what it does well, it virtually NEVER falses on Ka band and pretty rarely on K. It seems to have enough range...I've never been surprised by k-band (except the silent situation above) of course Ka can be in instant mode and provide a surprise. But if they fire it even briefly, I will get a blip as far as three-quarters of a mile. We have one agency locally that leaves their Ka in ON mode all the time. I know about them as much as a mile-and-a-half away and I live in a hilly, heavily wooded area. I have turned off X as it isn't used by any agencies around here... probably any*where and that removes MOST of the door openers, parking sensors, etc. If I could have Escort ADD a feature, I would have the directional arrow that was most recently lit... either flash or stay lit for a while after the signal is gone so that if I was *NOT looking at the display when the audible occurred, I could at least look a moment later and still know what direction that last alert had come from. Also know that I travel the country often and have used various RDs all over the country and this particular unit has 'Escorted" me across forty states in the last three years or so. Point being that I've used it in all terrains and it is a consistent performer. Out in the desert or mountains of the West the detector's range can actually seem too much, picking up a blip that is from a source miles away. It's a GREAT machine for Ka, a good machine for K. Useless for Laser and X.

On the blend mount, what actual model or part number do you have?

I agree the screen could be brighter. Thats why I rely on the sound and the little control box blinking in my peripheral. On laser, you're really fighting a losing battle because they typically aim the focused laser at your plate or headlights, so honestly if you see laser alert they already have you. Around here I've seen them use the hand held laser gun and it doesnt alert hardly ever, even when I think hes aiming at me. LIDAR is probably a different story, but I dont recall getting an alert other than laser from those guns. I dont get any false alerts from laser other than once in a while when my wife uses her phone. The IR emitter that the Iphone uses to project dots for Face ID triggers the laser alert.

I am in a Houston suburb. Nobody uses X here either so I shut it off. I mentioned earlier that it takes a min for the GPS to kick in, so a lot of times I have to deal with false K alerts from an automatic door opener/whatever else when I first start the car, and no GPS means no locking out a false signal. Only one small dept near me uses K so I keep it on since I go thru there a bunch. I feel most of my K false alerts are from auto cruise control/blind spot monitor/whatever and I do get one from a toll device on this toll road, but never any of the other toll equipment. Weird.

Ka is never a false alert. If I get a weak K I am mindful of my speed to see if it gets stronger or goes away, but if I see Ka its the speed limit immediately until I figure out where its coming from. Seems most everyone either uses vehicle mounted Ka, some of them leaving it on all the time, or a motorcycle cop will set up a laser gun speed trap. I will admit in an urban setting I kind of get numb to the detector. If I could shut off K I think it would be 90 percent quieter. Its still wayyy better than my 9500 which never shut up if a newer, especially German car was near. Where it really shines is road trips where the false alerts are minimal and you can detect the speed traps miles away.

As for the blend mount I see you have a slightly different detector than me and different V. This will tell you what you need.

why run the hardwire that far when you can just tap into the mirror's power? All you have to do is get the tap kit...

In the northeast/mid-atlantic region, I've turned off everything but Ka band. Lasers aren't super big here, but radar gun is. Laser is useless anyway without a $1000 laser-shifter kit installed. If it goes off, you're caught. My 360 saves me at LEAST 1 ticket/month most times 2 or 3...the NJSP are nothing but glorified revenue-generators here, always on the prowl.

Because the small control box has alert lights and a button to silence and GPS tag false alerts. It has to be plugged into the detector. I suppose you could run the power up to the mirror but its easier for me to just tap into a fuse.
