last time i went to one they didnt give me a loaner because they said it may not be under warranty, so im going to say it's dealer discretion
That's the way we did it at Cadillac Dealers I worked for back in the 1960's.Dealer dependent. The Caddy dealership where I take my V didn't do loaners even when the car was under warranty. The dealership where I bought the car, which is quite a bit further away, but is also where I've since bought two Rovers for my wife, will actually come and get the car for service. They drive up in a loaner and drive our car back, then return it and take the loaner when service is done. Very convenient.
I tell my guys when working inside someone’s boat assume you are being recorded. My Audi dealer will pick up cars for service. It'll be a cold day in hell if I ever let anyone drive my car. I was cruising on the local freeway one day and I saw two Audis driving batshit crazy. One had a regular plate, one a dealer plate. That convinced me right there - never!
