PWR C&R Intercooler Brick

Considering I've only seen price increases on the PWR C&R Racing bricks over the past number of months/years, I was pretty excited to see PWR offer a Black Friday discount a month ago, so I figured this would be my chance and jumped at the opportunity to snag one directly from PWR. Today I received the following message from them:

"Blair,

At the time we ran the Black Friday discount we were not planning on lowering the price of the bricks. We had a meeting and looked at the market and there was a decision made to lower the price. We are refunding you the difference."

The retail price for the ZL1 brick prior to the Black Friday sale a month ago was $1,469 - $1,499 depending on vendor.
The NEW retail price for the ZL1 AND the CTS-V brick today is now $1,099 directly from PWR.

In a world of "sorry bout your luck", I have to say that I am blown away with PWR's customer service.

That service experience is definitely an outlier from what so many have experienced recently. Any word on the timing to receive yours?

I ordered and paid for it at the Black Friday price a month ago, and it shipped the same day. I received it in less than a week. They refunded the difference AFTER I received it. Really unbelievable customer service.

That's impressive on all accounts.

Apparently manufacturing was streamlined and allowed them to lower price and meet demand. Cool of them to refund the difference on a previous sale though.

Definitely solid for them to do that.

IKR?

If you ever wanted one of these bricks, I'd say now is the time to pick one up!

Merry Christmas!
I paid more than that when I bought mine in 2021 when they first came out. That’s great that they’ve cut costs that much and passed it on.

What differences would be expected with their LSA brick over a reinforced OEM?
I bought it for longevity. I was replacing reinforced oem bricks every 2 years or 100 passes. My car makes ~800 whp and it would start folding the fins over in the brick.
I can’t say what it did for power, because I did a new motor at the same time.

While the end tanks of the PWR bricks are billet (won't collapse those suckers LOL), the big difference is technology and subsequent improved charge air cooling. The PWR unit is bar and plate technology while the stock bricks are fin and tube. There's lots of info in the Google machine if you want to learn more.

I am running the C&R Racing heat exchanger along with a Peirburg CWA 100 pump (huge improvement over stock IAT2's with those changes alone) and invested in the C&R brick hoping for a slight improvement in IAT2's, as I have no interest to install an ice tank. The durability factor is a bonus for me.
Interesting. Thanks. I’ll do soon googling but wondering on real world improvements in cooling or flow?

Me too, I'll be sure to report back in about 5.5 months! ;)
You definitely need to add fuel when changing to a C&R brick from re enforced stock

That's pretty cool, did not realize it changes flow that much.

@SaskV how close does it sit to the top of the lid ? Just making sure there is enough room for meth nozzle.

Checks winter 2023 mod plan... yup, more fuel is on the list ;)

I haven't installed it yet, teardown for new cam etc., commences early in the New Year.

What is your maximum boost level that you are making and IAT2 for the fins to fold over? Just curious.
16psi and 140 iat’s. But even a stock engine will do it with enough time. When you’re moving almost twice as much air as stock, it just happens faster.

Was this the CTSV brick or the ZL1 brick?
