Problems cranking the engine when warm or hot?

My car will occasionally have issues starting when the engine is hot. At first it would only happen after a hard run on the track and I shut off my engine. More recently it has started doing this even after normal driving. When I try to restart the engine shortly after turning it off, like when pumping gas, the starter has extreme difficulty turning and won't start. If I let it cool off, the car will start again. Occasionally it'll smell like burning if I let the car try to turn over. I thought it was a battery issue since the original battery was coming up on 5 years but it still does it even with the brand new battery. Does anyone have any experience with this issue?

starter.
Doe the car have headers? It may require some additional heat shielding around the starter if so.
I had an issue with mine when warmed up, very slow crank but would turn on.. Battery was fine ended up being the positive cable going to the starter had too much resistance. I believe their might be a tsb becuase they found it pretty quick.
Once replaced never had the issue again.

Hmm...any chance you have the tsb number?
Anyone have the TSB number? I have the same issue.
Same. Now that the weather is warming up in NYC, my CTS-V isn't starting again when the engine bay is hot. I brought it into the dealer in the winter and they couldn't find a problem because it was cold and would start every time.
