No smog then, I’m assuming? Headers and exhaust should eat up that budget. Then an intake, Airaid is the preferred choice ‘round here until you get to bigger throttle body. Do your research and map out your build so you’re not spending money twice. Many here have winning combinations so read up, and be “realistic” with your horsepower goals. Welcome aboard…

Lucky you! I hear they recently made the left lane a “passing lane only”. I hate the term “fast lane”.
Also, unlike CA, you will not have to go back to stock for every check. Yeah!
Not a bad trade for a little more humidity.

As for your mod question, I would recommend using the search, or going through the “build threads”.
First mods are usually CAI, larger injectors, larger upper pulley, cooling mods, and a tune. We have good vendors on this site, and there may be some Black Friday Sales going on right now. Good timing!

This is basically what I have done, making around 575whp. Definitely a good starting point.

Cold Air Intake and go from there.

Op has a budget of $2k, and I know them boys down south love them loud exhausts! Maybe if you scrounge up another $400 you should do the intake as well. Have you sourced a tuner…? That’s next.
