2012 coupe with nav. I usually ride with my radio/nav pop-up screen down. Lately it has started to randomly go dark. Nothing else seems to be affected. The radio continues to play, the enviro system seems to function, bluetooth is good, steering wheel controls work etc. It's like the screen just goes to sleep. It's not usually out for long and just as randomly, it will wake back up. When I push the nav button the screen comes up like it is supposed to and wakes up. I have not observed it doing this with the screen up, only with it down and I swear, I believe it does it more the first few minutes after I crank the car. It doesn't matter if the car is sitting or in motion and when it's out, it doesn't respond to the touch screen. Trying to jar it doesn't work either, so it seems like it's not just a loose connection at the display.

I did a search here and I found the post about a bulletin for the 09-10 with nav having a problem with the display flickering caused by a connection at the fuse box, but mine doesn't flicker. It's on or off. Anybody have any ideas before I go blindly into tearing my dash apart looking for a bad connection.

TIA

Have you looked around for just a screen?

Not yet. Have those been a problem in these cars? I would hope a bad connection when it is down as opposed to a bad screen since I haven't noticed it doing it when the screen is extended. If the screen was bad, I would think it would be bad in either position.

check the cable to the screen and make sure the connections are good.
That's what I'm hoping. I've never been into the stack on this car and I'm a little nervous about trying to get into it. Is the whole pop-up assembly modular and come out from the front/top to allow access to the back of the unit like a radio does or does it remain in place and just the screen come out?

Thanks. It will probably be next weekend before I can take a look at it. Hopefully it's just a loose plug.

I also have a spare screen, if you pay for shipping its all yours!
Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. (y)

Hopefully, I won't need it though, lol.

I just ran into this issue in my CTS. The screen was flickering but there didn't seem to be any issues with my HVAC system or radio. Everything still operated fine except the screen was flickering which seemed to be associated with general vibrations/bumps so its felt like a loose connection. I saw a few posts on this forum about this issue and some saying they found a loose connection near the battery but no one seemed to share the details of what was the ultimate solution. I figured I would share what worked for me here.

For me, all I have to do was tighten the bolt that is located in the middle of that white plastic block of a wiring harness. As soon as I got that more snug than it was, the flickering immediately stopped.

I had a wireless harness serviced a while back at the dealer because a random code was being thrown. I guess they didn't tighten things up enough when they put it all back together. Hope this works for y'all!
