My Wagon had the chrome delete with plastidip, it sucked. I would never do plastidip again due to the peeling and overall lack of longevity of the product. The chrome was not sanded and the application was put on when I bought the car.

I had my chrome trim wrapped and it turned out great. I flexidipped (Rustoleum equivalent) the grilles myself and it worked out fine. I did three coats. Got a couple tiny rock chips over the last three years of daily driving. I will touch those up in the spring. Note: The grille surrounds are separate from the mesh if you want a two tone look. I went with a grey grille and red trim to support my school.

From every Dip Your Car video I've watched you need a lit of coats of PlastiDip. This is where dip usually goes wrong. People only do 2 or 3 coats. When they do a car, including primer, they get 6 or 7 coats on there.

You don't need to sand, either. Just make sure it's cleaned off well. They have youtube videos on thier channel that will help a lot. I've never done it to a vehicle, but I've watchdd the videos for 5 or 6 years. They are fun to watch and see all the colors.

i had my trim wrapped and maybe something was done wrong but all the sharp edges and along the bevel started to peel up, which would annoy me way more than a few stone chips
one day washing the car I just ripped all that shit off

I did the front grill on my G8 with Plasti-Dip as well as all 4 rims. In 2 years I never had a problem with them or had one peel or chip. Like others have said many light coats is key. Clean very very well and then I did 5-6 coats of color and 2-3 coats of a clear.

I got about 3 years out of my plastidip job. It is an absolute pain to remove after that long.

You definitely want to put it on as thick as you can for easier removal later.

It’s not the chrome, but I Plasti Dipped the lower rear. I didn’t care for that “floating” white down there. Multiple coats, allowing them to dry. No glossifier.

Has anyone done a entire chrome delete with plastic dip? If so did u sand the chrome b4? Also how well did it stay...
I did all of my chrome about 4 years ago, no need for sanding. Prep/clean well, and apply a lot of coats. I also added a clear coat on last.

I’m surprised how long mine has lasted honestly. That probably has more to do with it not being my DD.
