Thanks Mr. RD!
I think the investment in the converter has made the big difference in ET this year. Ported SC is making the extra power. And that's all I did over the past winter. It picked up 4/10ths and 5mph from last year.
Of course NOW I find myself researching ported heads/cams and planning for another winter upgrade!
You have something, other than the HP working for you.
It would not surprise me that the converter is involved.
-it's simply a combination of things-
On the leave; engine torque, converter stall and flash rpm, must work with the grip of the tire.
Not enough grip, and 'spin' will occur. To much grip, and the engine rpm will fall, causing the car to lose acceleration.
You can hear all of this, as when the car is accelerating, it is 'Pulling' the car down the track easily, and the increase in engine rpm, versus time, seems to come freely.
If not, the car is pulling down the engine rpm and one hears the engine struggling to gain engine rpm, over time..
If you can make more HP in the higher gears, and not destroy your current 60' - 330', but via HP charge harder past the 660', you could easily move into the Low 10's, or even the high 9's.
Impressive performance for the build..
