So I’m starting to debate what to do next to the car as I’m semi bored with the power. My question is for those who have been to this crossroads and what did you end up doing and how did it work out for you. Car is mostly a weekend car with some drives to work when I feel like it. Mostly street hits in Mexico and some track runs. Car is on the higher mileage side with 130k on the clock. I’ve debated doing a cam, but know I should probably do heads as well to get the full benefits. Have also debated doing a lower pulley but feel it might be minimal gains at best? Also have thought about just putting a 100 shot on it but I’m on the fence about this. And of course I’ve thought about just going all in, finding an lsx block and building it and putting it in once this motor lets go.
car currently makes in the 600ish range on e85
Current mods are listed below
Air raid intake
2in headers to 3in Catless x-pipe and stock mufflers
Dsx aux kit and flex fuel
ID 1050x
2.45 upper
Weapon x heat exchanger
ZL1 lid and brick
EMP pump with 8gallon tank in trunk
160 deg T-stat
Catch can

I would do cam and lower. You can get 8.6 and keep your 2.45 upper (should put you around 1-1.5 psi over what you are making right now)
It just makes more sense, since all that stuff got to come off for cam swap anyway.
You can do heads on next round of mods and maybe pistons+rods and all that.
Just make sure your whole valve train, etc gets done as well.
I would not do nitrous on DD again.
Also add post boost meth to that list.

Thanks for the reply!
For those that did the LT1Z 2.5 cam with stock heads, did you notice any issues? Still flowed enough with stock heads to make good power?

Yup, I know that I'm leaving some power on the table, but with a good tuner you shouldn't have any issues even as a DD. Next upgrade for me would be the heads.

I have 2.5 + stock heads/block and no issues.
You'll be happy with it.
What’re you making power wise or 1/4 times if you don’t mind my asking?

Matt is a good guy, I’d reach out to him and tell him what your goals are. He can get you set up with everything you need for the cam install, lifters etc and correct push rods.

I need to head to the track again and try launching the car to see if I can get her going quicker. Best so far has been [email protected] with a 1.6 60ft

I’ve contemplated that as well. I have no intention of getting rid of this car anytime even close to soon. So if the motor pops, it’s just going to get a built motor

That's not a bad approach. If the motor pops or not, you will most likely need a new block either way so might as well go all out. I found with my 95k mile lsa block the tops of 2 cylinders had small cracks and all of the cylinders were pretty out of round. All I had was airraid and 2.5 pulley. With the limited amount you can bore the lsa and the prohibitive cost of a resleeve I ended up going LSX and don't regret it.

I’ve been keeping an eye out for an lsx block to come up on the used market also

I love and hate all of you. I’m now debating just pulling the motor and building it. I was trying to find a spare block to start with and keep this motor in the car. But finding a spare shortblock on the used market is seemingly difficult.

Ok so this is what has developed....

I have the option to buy a LSA shortblock and Magnuson 2650 blower.
My thoughts are to sell my healthy running motor and blower setup out of my car and build the other LSA shortblock with the 2650.
Thoughts??

I think that there was/is opinions that staying at stock cubes and 1.9 is the way to go, and the closer you get to 400 cubes the more the 2650 comes into the equation.
