Onstar Theft Notifications no longer sent to cell phone

In the past several months I have found that if you set off the alarm system it will no longer call my cell phone even though it is set up to do so in the settings on the Cadillac site (www.cadillac.com/ownercenter/onstar/notification-settings) I can get the email and the text notification however the phone call notification no longer works. I have called OnStar numerous times, even sent snail mail letters, however they still claim this issue is on my end and not an Onstar issue. My Corvette is having the same issue. Has anyone tried to set off their alarm to see if this phone call notification still works? I occasionally test my alarm by locking the doors with a window open, waiting about 30 seconds then reaching inside to pull the inside door handle to open the door. The alarm does sound and flash lights for about 30 seconds. I then get the text and email notifications but no phone call.

Probably someone told them it's an equality issue...smh lol.. And they disabled it... I'm not buying anything with this new onstar and ecu up link for the new cars. Forget it. I'll check mine out and let you know.
That is due to all older onstar sytems going dark. They say due to all the 5G signals the lower G are no longer supported

According to GM Authority sources, General Motors plans to sunset the OnStar Hands-Free Calling service in 2022. At that point, all vehicles on the road still equipped with the feature will no longer have the ability to make calls using the OnStar Hands-Free Calling system.
Sadly the Canadian systems get the 5G upgrade. Due to the chit shortage the General Motors folks in the United States are dragging their feet on an upgrade. All you need is the 5G box and get the dealer to program it.

It does not appear that this bulletin applies to 2016 and above years.

I have heard about emiminating the hands free calling but I am under the impression that actual theft alarm notification call comes from onstar and not the car itself so I wouldnt think that the ending of hands free calling would be an issue.
I'd assume they're going to give us upgrade boxes..

Oh, of course.
I was never able to connect to my car with the app period and gave up. It was nice on my 2017 GMC to be able to remote start from my phone since GMs key fobs have such dismal range.
Mine still works well actually.

I did send an email to OnStar product marketing executive V. Stieneker. I did not get a reply from her but did get a call soon after from someone at OnStar Executive Services asking about my issue which I explained. Later in the same day I received a second call from the same person stating that after, some research on my issue, they were able to find out that the phone call theft notification was eliminated on the OnStar platform on June 30, 2022. For my aggravation I was offered 3 months of OnStar on all my owned vehicles with Onstar. So in a nutshell the phone call notification feature has been eliminated. Not sure which years were involved in this change, mine is a 2016.
If you have a 2016 you have the newer box so you will coverage. I have a 2013 and am basically screwed since GM will not upgrade Onstar. Found a way around it. Buy a box out of a newer wrecked car and switch out the unit. The nice part is all you have to do after you connect it is to push the button and let the Onstar rep know that you have installed an upgraded box, not 2G, and they will reassign the box to your VIN and that is it. I am still waiting on the cables. The splitter and upgraded box came via eBay.

Is there a part number to look for? I have a 2013 V wagon and am in the same boat.

I recently elected to cancel OnStar on the wagon rather than use the useless Guardian app. However, if I can upgrade the hardware…
I have the parts and when I am done working on a 74 Corvette convertible and a Land Rover I will get off my butt and install it and see how it does.

My 2016 no longer calls my cell for theft notification but if your 2018 works then must be specific years including at least 2016 as Onstar exeuctive told me the feature has been discontinued on mine.
