No crank after running out of gas

I ran out of gas the other day. Simple as that. I was able to push it into the gas station and fill up. Ever since then I get one click out of the starter and that’s it. Had battery and starter tested. Both passed. I manually cranked the motor so I know it’s not siezed. The motor won’t crank at all though. But the starter engages. Just doesn’t spin.

put multimeter on volts and check the starter power lead (earth on engine for test) then crank it over and see what the voltage does, if it drops real low or to zero then check battery when cranking if it stays right then there is a connection issue to the starter or poor earth to the engine, can do same test with earth on chassis if volts stays good then but not when earth on engine then there is a poor earth to engine, u could try jumper leads just connect a good earth from chassis to engine to test if that works then u know issue or if not then u know earth to engine is good and must be a power issue to starter

Hard to explain the coincidence, but starter motors do go bad. Mine shit the bed two years ago, on Christmas eve, and it was like 15ºF. Had to get a flatbed and a ride home. Froze my ass off trying to figure it out before I gave up. Turned the key, got a click, but then all the lamps would go out until I released the key. Seemed like a classic battery problem. But a jump box wouldn't start it either. It had been cranking slow for a while, which I had assumed was the battery. But really, it was a winding in the starter motor.
If your battery is in the trunk, there a a fuse box next to it, which has a nut / bolt in the middle of it. Tighten it and see if your problem goes away. Also recheck that pain in the ass 10 mm ground bolt under the intake / air filter.
