Hi guys,

After a two year search, I recently purchased a 2013 CTSV. The car is a beast and I am throughly enjoying it. I am working my way through some small issues but something has come up that has me searching for advice related to torque converters.

A recent trip to my tuner revealed that while the car has many mods, it still has the factory torque converter. I explained to him how the car wants to 'press through' the brakes and he said the converter should be upgraded.

My question: is there a particular torque converter that I should be using with my setup or a formula to determine the best, depending on all the mods etc? I would appreciate any input from other V owners with experience. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the party house! Give us a list of your mods and Dyno numbers. There are plenty of guys/gals running low to high powered V's that can chime in and give you the best advice. Also since you have a V now, I would recommend getting a tuner that specializes in V's/ GM. They would know what is best for your V and how to get what you want out of the car. Let us know your city and state so one of the many members can recommend a tuner in your area.

What has been done to it? You usually want your torque converter to be in the RPM range of whatever camshaft you have. Knowing which camshaft you have would be very helpful.

*edit. Oops. Took too long to type.

I'm in Warwick. I NEVER see other Vs around...
Nice!, occasionally I see a silver coupe on 138 when I’m heading to Jamestown for work but that’s the only one I’ve ever seen here
