Good morning CTS-V Owners! My name is Brian and I live in South Carolina (Charleston Area) and I will soon be in the market for a CTS-V and I am mainly focused on a 3rd gen 2016-2019. I have admired the CTS-V since its 2nd gen release; however, the price tag always scared the sh_t out of me. I have recently reached a point where my finances will allow me to start seriously considering the purchase of one without living in a cardboard box on the side of the highway. I know that right now, the used car market is insane and prices are significantly inflated - I am going to keep my eye on these prices and give it a little time to even out; however, I figured I would reach out to the folks who know (you guys) and ask some basic questions...
  • Are there specific years/packages to stay away from?
  • Are there any maintenance or services to ask for proof of completion that might cause a problem later on?
  • Has any of you 3rd Gen owners had major issues (especially if you are in the South East US)

So I’m newish on here and don’t spend much time looking in. But I had a V2 for a few years and enjoyed it a lot. Missed it so much when I sold it. When I sold it and started looking for a V3. I was also looking at the competitors like the E63 and M5. But I didn’t go there even against my wife’s love of MB’s. Did lots of looking and found that the 2018 model had some upgrades to the suspension and a few things that mattered to me. That year also brought some new colors too. Which I ended up finding. Satin steel metallic is beautiful and i get a lot of attention even from other V owners.
you can’t do wrong with a V3, but if you can afford it, 2018 had some nice upgrades to the overall rig. Mine has all the upgrades. PDR, Recaros, carbon package and Lux Package.

* UPDATE *
Welp… tomorrow I sign the paperwork on a 2019 CTS-V after wanting and dreaming of one for about a decade! It is Crystal White Tricoat, has the carbon fiber package (minute the black wheels), the all black V-Recaro seats, and to top it all off… it only has 12k miles on it!!

I am extremely excited for this new journey… I had my last vehicle for almost 14yrs so I am not one to swap out of vehicles quickly.
