New member in VA looking to buy eventually

529 Views 6 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Jeopardy98
Hello all, I've joined up here to start doing hours and hours of reading before I start trying to find my perfect V. I'm located in Va and previously had a fully bolted Mazdaspeed3 and a fully built Mazdaspeed6 but decided mid 40s is a good time to get a grown up car.

I'm looking for super fun but still dead reliable daily driver so I'm trying to research what years are good and which ones (if any) to stay away from. Also looking to find out what mods net the best gains while maintaining reliability of stock. Also looking to learn anything else that is a must know about these cars before purchasing.

I'm also struggling on the A vs M. I've always been a manual guy since '99 but im seeing mixed reviews on this and I'm torn between wanting to have a nice car I can just drive and missing out on having a 3rd pedal.

Sorry about the book. Glad to be here and hopefully I can join you all in the next few months. Anything you all think I should know, I'm happy to listen.

Thanks! I read through the rules and now I'm trying to find some must read threads for knowledge of the platform. I've got plenty of time to peruse the sight while I wait for my perfect V to come along for sale.

As far as reliability all of the V2's are pretty similar. It's easy to make 550+ whp with very simple bolt ons (lots of build threads on here). If you are a manual guy I'd say get one if you can find one. You'll pay a premium for a manual but it will also hold its value better down the road because of the rarity.

I'm in VA and have all three pedals. Depending on where in VA, happy to meet up with you. (To be clear, not selling mine, just happy to show it off, go for a spin.)

I'm just south of Richmond but I'm up near Richmond all the time. I also make it down to VA Beach sometimes and up to Fairfax at times so I'm sure we could cross paths at some point. I appreciate that offer and wouldn't mind taking you up on it.
