New to the ctsv community. Just bought an 09 sedan bone stock. I'm considering buying an upper pulley and I'm not sure what size and if I also need to get a belt or any other supporting mods. Just trying to be safe and start a build up to 750 for now.

I'm sure other members will chime in on this... But in my experience you'll need more than just an upper pulley to break 700whp. Plus, you cannot forget about the supporting mods... Smaller pulley equals more air... Means you'll need more fuel (at least injectors)... That all means more heat, which means you'll need a better heat exchanger and/or an expansion tank... It snowballs quickly.

Definitely search existing build threads and other informative threads that have compiled lists of mods and the resulting power levels achieved. In my own experience, prior to my car being stolen, I'd put down 650whp on a hub dyno with heads/cam, upper pulley, and all fuel and cooling supporting mods. Plus full exhaust, on a conservative tune, on 93. I bet that setup on E could've easily made 700+.

So I only need the upper pulley with no belt or anything else?
If you want to see what just a pulley does...look here. Look at the mods needed for different HP gains on Dynos.

First mod should be to upgrade your Sarcasm Detector; it's out of date.
You'll love it here. There's a ton of info and help, the Friday ASS thread as well as more than a few Cunts.
Look through the link that Blades posted. There are days of reading there.
A simple upper pulley will provide a boost in boost, therefore power so it's quick and easy. Depending on the pulley selection, you may need a belt but as you read along, you'll discover there are many many options for upgrades and also a good deal of *must do*s to support the level of upgrades. No, a pulley alone is NOT taking you to 750rwhp. But that level of power IS available somewhat readily. Read up, make informed choices and that same pulley will be a part of your eventual big build.

Boost pressure is nothing more than a restriction to air flow.
With an increase in boost, you also have an associated rise in heat.

To benefit from the increase in boost, one must increase the capacity
of the Mass Flow Recovery System, as that will aid in reducing heat.
***Hot air does not make more HP, as it reduces the mass / density of the air.
***Cool air increases the ability to make more HP, as it increases
the weight of the air, or the mass / density of the air.
***If you increase the mass / density of the air, you can now add more fuel.

Understanding the above statements, will help you to
make more HP when increasing boost.

Yep, sometimes I feel like the older group on here
say to themselves, why is he writing this again..lol

But as you know; we have a younger group who have
purchased used vehicles, and are attempting to learn
about this platform.

So if I have the time, then I attempt to answer the question.
Pretty much the same as you I would think..;)
