I own a 2011 ctsv coupe im not a mechanic by any means my issue is that when im driving and the vehicle gets up to temp ill be coasting fine one second but next ill hit the gas and it feels like its in neutral. I have to pull over let it cool down before i can start it again and have drive back perfectly fine until it heats up again and does the samething. The only code that comes up is for a catalytic converter bank one. My question is would a cat over heating cause me to lose drive like that? Or would that be my transmission failing ?

Are your rpm's increasing but your speed isn't when it feels like it's in neutral? If so, you need to get your trans fluid checked.

All sorts of shit in a slushbox that can wear out or fail. Luckily, automatic transmission rebuilds are relatively affordable. Take it to a tranny shop and get them to tell you what they think is wrong, what they think it'll cost to repair, and then post those details back here and we'll let you know if it sounds sensible.
