Need input on StopTech sport rotors

5190 Views 40 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  PGA2B
Hi folks, contemplating replacing my oem brake rotors on my 2011 V coupe to these drilled and slotted StopTech sports based on looks alone. I'm wondering does anyone have any feedback on them? I'd hate to swap them out and have regrets. Thanks folks.

I've had them since 2016 and and had no issues at all with them.

Get R1 concepts instead
I can get these new from a private sale at a discounted price. Care to elaborate?

I have had R1 on my car for a year and a half and they are probably the best value available for replacement brake components.

R1 Concepts are made from Centric (Stoptech) blanks. Made sure the rotors you are getting are made from the premimum blanks and not the economy blanks if you go R1.

About to instal stoptech slotted on my car next week. I didn’t want drilled rotors myself.

Were 2-piece oem rotors optional on these cars?

Yeah I’ve got a 2011 so these StopTechs wouldn’t be a downgrade I don’t imagine?

I doubt you would see any problems for normal street use. If you were tracking it, go OE or better.
Two piece are 1.5# heavier

Agreed. On my other car I installed slotted and dimpled rotors for that reason. R1 didn't have that option so I went slotted and drilled on the V. In retrospect, I didn't think of just slotted. However, after a few years no sign of cracks.around the holes so I'm happy.

R1s do have slotted and drilled option, and they have discount for forum members. You also get discounts vie email all the time.
Just hit them up in their subforum or PM.
So I noticed that my friend who was Stop Tech, started rusting when compared to my R1s.

He's been happy with the performance, as have I with my "blanks" but without the rust.

The oem 2-piece rotors were only front or rear too? Same size as what I currently have oem 2011? I’m running 18/17 drag pack which rears barely cleared as is.

Only the fronts and a direct replacement, but Karch says they weigh 1.5lbs more over the OE blanks. Rear clearance is an issue if you go to 15's.

I have 17” rears, no chance 15” would clear.
