Stock manifold, 300 cell metal cats, no secondary cats, stock midpipe, corsa sport axleback = fantastic!

Won't go into all the details of this journey, but in case this can help someone out since there is very little out there in the googleverse here is what I've found imo anyways by trying all of these combos (All combos are with stock manifolds, stock midpipe)

All stock, corsa sport axleback - great sound, quiet for most part, wot sounds great and not obnoxious. When I had this liked the tone but could have used a bit more volume.

All stock, corsa extreme - got rear-ended and collision center put on extremes by mistake. Great sound, louder, wot was more raspy which I didn't love, and not obnoxious to me, but I'm sure some folks would think so. So I guess closer to borderline obnoxious at wot.

No cats(all), extreme - Clogged cat and removal (all of them) That was ridiculous. It was obnoxious as hell and super raspy

No cats(all), 12" resonators, extreme - went to custom exhaust shop and they put on resonators to stop the madness. Did nice job actually to bring it down and at cruise quiet like stock and extremes, but wot was still way too raspy and obnoxious still with a good amount of throttle. Was also just a hint of drone at normal drone range. The big problem for me was the shop put in 2.5" crush steel pipe! Won't get into that mess, but next up...

300 cell metal cats, extreme - Back to proper size, mandrel pipes. Still too raspy and louder than I like and at wot it was into obnoxious territory. Cruising around, wasnt bad but was definitely louder than stock and extremes. My main issue with this setup is the raspiness is there through most of the rpms. The rasp is less than without cats though.

300 cell cats, sport - part of my enjoyment with cars is how they sound and had to get it perfect for how I like it. So ordered just the sport mufflers without needing to purchase whole new system. Yes you can do that, just need to call them. The car sound perfect now! Volume level in between sport and extreme with all else stock. No rasp just like when stock with sport.

Hope this can help anyone before going on their own very unenjoyable, expensive quest.

No drone is nice. A lot of folks warned me about highway drone with the SW axlebacks but I don't have any except when the car goes into V4 mode. It does however drone a little on cold start and quite a bit on low throttle applications. SW also fit like shit and GMs modern electric dual mode exhaust is not the same as the older vacuum actuated NPP exhaust that they had on C6s so I wouldn't spring for a dual mode cat/axle back if I did it over again. Do these cars have a 2nd cat or is that a resonator?

Corsa has always been aggressive about canceling drone. One of the reasons they always cost so much (meaning they engineer the shit out of their products).

Yes I have had great experiences with both Corsa and Borla. I dont think I will ever buy another SW product again.

Yep 4 cats total no resonators

I kind of like my option that I have currently. I started out with just electronic cut outs before the stock muffler and the rest of the exhaust stock. This sounds really nice. Then my cats clogged and was not able to find factory cats so I did ling tube headers into a x pipe strait back to the cut outs. With cut outs open it is very obnixious but with them closed very tamed. I think I will add some aftermarket cats due to a exhaust smell if ac is not on recirculation. Anyone else have that issue?

Just my opinion but I believe the Borla axle back sound amazing. No drone, great initial start roar, gets a loud deep tone when you decide to open it up. I drive with my windows closed almost all of the time, open them up from a stoplight, you will be surprised to hear how badass it sounds if you are going under an overpass. Between the SC whine and that exhaust note it makes me smile a lot.

If I want to keep the stock cats, muffler/valve set up. What options are out there for the remaining part of the exhaust?
If you want to keep the stock muffler and cats I suppose a welded in resonator delete is your only option.

@pfram what brand of 200 cell cats did you go with and can you provide the model numbers? I'm looking to go this route connecting to a Borla cat back system. Howeer, as an alternative to four cats, I was thinking of utilizing a high flow muffler for the secondary which may be of small benefit for a quiet system increasing flow and more precisely tuning sound. Carvan and Totalflow look like a couple shorty options in this scenario but I'm not familiar with these companies and am willing to test it out. The worst thing that can happen is to swap them out for high flow cats or just bypass them altogether.
