First of all I would just like to tip my hat to Random's excellent header write up done years ago that assured me headers were a solid mod. I just picked up my 2013 A6 sedan from the tuner today and made 43 more HP and considerable improvements in TQ all across the curve after a tune refresh than I did with just primary cat deletes. I used Texas Speed 2" long tube primaries to 3" catless X pipe to stock muffler. The sound is great and is not much louder than before till you start to tip into the power, so its nice that it can still be civil when driven modestly and really scream when called upon. Dyno runs were done on the same dyno by the same tuner and made good power despite the 95* + temps, humidity and terrible DA in north Texas. Car is a 2.5"/9.1" pulley combo on flex fuel E-85 and supporting mods. Made 647 RWHP and 613 TQ.

Very nice gains especially comparing them apples to apples and using the stock mufflers. Really appreciate you sharing this info.
It’s worth mentioning the addition of headers brought down the boost psi a few pounds so that helps with a cooler air intake temp likely contributing to better power. It maxes out at 15psi now as before it was about 17psi.

Since boost is simply a restriction to airflow, your statement above is very meaningful…
