Before deploying, I noticed clicking from underneath the car. After inspection I narrowed it down to the end joint on the driveshaft. I ordered a replacement from gmparts online for my car (a 2009 auto) and had it shipped to my house part #20990073. After I got back and settled in, I go to replace it and notice they are different parts. Apparently my auto car has a 20990071 in it (for a manual). They have different bolt sizes and conneting ends. I bought the car used, has anyone heard or done this swap before? Looking for the best way to fix the issue.

Can't offer insight into how this could have happened. But you might have a local shop that can rebuild the drive shaft you have. I have a fleet pride (I think that's the name) shop near me, they rebuilt several shafts for the shop I used to work at that weren't easily serviceable. You could always pull it and shop around for rebuild before/in parallel with sending the 73 back for a 71.
