Lowering springs and 17”x10” drag radials?

327 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Chokeu
I just picked up two brand new Weld S71 wheels 17”x10” and was gonna run 305/45-17 tires in the back. My questions are
1.) Can you run lowering springs with these size tires or will they rub?
2.) What size tire should I run up front so that it doesn’t cause any idiot lights to come on? (18” x 8” wheel is what I’m thinking about getting)
Thanks in advance 🙏🏻! PFA

I’ve got a coupe with Eibachs and those tires with no issues. Not sure about sedan.
Don't listen to anyone who gives you advice for a coupe, they can fit a lot more tire.

Stock height they will work, but if you go over a bump big enough to fully compress the suspension it will make contact with the fender. On my sedan I'm lowered on eibach coupe springs with 17x10" beadlocks and 275/50R17 M&H racemasters and my pinky finger won't fit between the tire and the fender but it doesn't rub even at full bump.

You want to run something like a 235/50r18 in the front, mine are Nitto NT555 G2's.
Arca_ex you wouldn’t happen to have any pics of your car with you? Also, why did you run coupe springs on your sedan?

The coupe springs sit the rear a little bit lower, especially helpful since the rear tire is larger than the front with a setup like this. There are pictures in my intro thread from awhile back, if you click to my profile and view my past threads you'll spot it.

2010 Sedan - I have Welds with 305 40 17 MT Rs on stock springs and its tight. Even with rolled fenders they are super close.
The only time that I know they rubbed is when I did spirited launch with 2 people in the back seat and a cooler full of adult beverages in the trunk.
Possible other scrubs that I didn't hear over the exhaust.

I the front I have Goodyear Eagle Sport 225 45 18 that have given me zero problems.
