My plates are VWAGON. I recently dropped it off to the dealer for an oil change, inspection and replacement of the windshield wiper reservoir. This was mid-August. So two weeks ago I get a TXTAG bill for a toll hit in the Houston area. I was racking my brain trying to remember a trip to Houston (memory goes fast!) and then I remembered I had dropped the car over a weekend at the dealer. Lo and behold, the hit occurred while the car was at the dealer. I looked at the service record and it showed only one mile on the odometer in and out. WTF I think to myself, Ken Batchelor joy rode my wagon to Houston from San Antonio! I call up the dealer on a Saturday and the service manager was out for the day. Left him a very concerned voice mail. Like very concerned. Thankfully not profane.

Next day, I figure out how to access the photo records for the bill (invoice doesn't come with a pic). Lo and behold, it's V-WA6ON, getting a free ride on me! :)

Needless to say, I called the dealer back on Monday and apologized and explained the situation.

So if you're out there V-WA6ON, enjoy your free tolls on me. There's been another so far. God knows how difficult this will be to correct with the toll authorities. You owe me a beer!

It’s interesting you post this. I received a toll bill in the mail this past weekend for my commuter car and I was no were near the toll booth at that time, nor have I ever used that road. I disputed the toll and was told my dispute was valid and I was not liable for the violation. I was confused as to how I was fined, but after hearing your story, I assume it was a tag that was very similar to mine that enjoys running toll booths. :ROFLMAO: I’m glad you got your “violation” figured out.(y)

Yes, it was a very frustrating Saturday thinking of the wagon being hooned all the way to Houston and back (about 400 miles)! I guess those computers at the DMV aren't as smart as I thought they were.

I had a parking ticket once and the photo showed my plate. Looked like it was right but the plate was on a red 2 dr Volvo. My plate was still on a black 4 dr Mercedes Benz. Never did figure that one out but sending a photo to the city and they dropped the parking ticket.
