JE Piston Circlips

How in the heck do you install the JE circlips?

I bought the Mahle plastic tool and that seems pretty worthless for installig them. So I bought the Stomski circlip injector tool and the circlip seems to deform the sleeve such that the injector no longer wants to slide. I'm at wits end trying to get these in.

Back in the day I had a phillips head screwdriver that I ground down to look like an oversized schrader valve core tool. I would insert one end of the circlip into the groove and walk the rest of it down into the groove with the modified screwdriver. You should have some assembly lube on those wrist pins. That helps everything slide around. Just make sure there aren't any sharp edges on your modified screwdriver to scratch the pistons or wrist pins. It wasn't perfect. I definitely sent a few flying across the room.

I doubt I still have it, but I'll look. I'll post a pic if I do.

I ended up taking it to an engine builder and he put them in. I figured maybe he had some secret method or tool. Basically he had a screwdriver with a notch in it and pryed them in like Secondhand said.
