Did a few top end pulls this past weekend, car felt slow up top, definitely suspected an IAT issue and timing pull.

Went ahead and burped the intercooler valve with some distilled water (simple funnel/tube method). It took about 2 cups of water and released the same volume in air bubble! Did a quick run and things felt better but didn't get to test the long pulls.

The next day for grins, since I'd run the car and cycled it a bit, I tried burping it again. Took another quart of water!

So the questions....

Is it feasible that it was down 2 quarts? Does that suggest a leak? (none visible) How does this happen?

Is it possible to over-fill this or should I just let it drink down whatever it wants until it stops?

Have your brick pressure tested and also could be a weak fill cap not holding. Look at all of your clamps for dried coolant residue.

Have you checked the reservoir level? That will tell you pretty quickly if its low. Mine doesn't move. Also why are you using water and not coolant?

I know it sounds crazy, but the surge tank has two chambers connected together and the top is the main tank, the bottom is the overflow. The intercooler is a closed system that "requires" a special tool to bleed, seems really stupid to me but I didn't design it.

Interesting. I always thought the second tank was for the intercooler.

You can get that "special tool." I forget who makes it. Literally goes from the fitting to a soda-bottle threaded cap. Keeps it open so you can burp and fill with a soda bottle. I have one.

I'm filling with a mix of distilled and Redline water wetter.

Dedicated Motorsports makes the little adapter, but not really needed, just a 3/4 clear hose, funnel, and something flexible to shove down and push the pin works just fine.

Mine keeps taking more every time I try. Still not too sure why, but I may have to take off the lid and peek at the bricks.
