No sir. I made this video minutes ago. My drains are fine, i just cleared them and tested them. The water drip tray under the sunroof is leaking before the water goes down the drain. Im wondering if i need to replace the whole sunroof.

he shows how there is a gap around the sunroof so if it doesnt drain fast enough it can overflow and leak through
about 12:10

My car came on a trailer cross country with the sunroof closed and its full of water. The drains are working. Why is the seal around the closed sunroof leaking? What does that have to do with the drip tray no draining fast enough?

do they sell new exterior seals? Like this

im just trying to help , people think the drains are clear and they arent, did you watch the guy's whole video? did you actually test how fast your drains clear?
there are 4 drains total

Im sorry im stressin. Just paid a premium for this car and its nothing but problems. Yea i watched it. My drain tube flow very well. I cleaned them all and tested. The drip tray is leaking before the drain.

Right where the little gap is between the nipple for the tube and that silver bolt. I see no way to fix this without dropping the sunroof. Anyone have a How-To for this?

i had a similar leak in a ford probe many many years ago
I fixed it by smearing some marine sealant in there, i suggest pettit anchortec in the red cartridge or 3m fast cure 4200/5200. you can get both in black

make sure its clean and dry and smear it in there neatly. for the bolt you can put some sealant on it or maybe you can fit a neoprene washer behind it
then let it sit inside or cover it until its nice and dry

Its all good. I ripped it out. Found the leak. But i really dont want a sunroof. Does anyone make a delete kit? (Thats doesnt leak!)

I guess this tape was meant to seal that seam before the drain tub

If its leaking where the metal channel meets the plastic end caps there is a fix. I have done many myself. Remove the rear glass and apply seam sealer to that area. All the ones I have seen leak were in the rear and usually on the right side.

thats exactly where the leak is. I did it the hard way and pulled the entire sunroof assembly. Now i know u can remove the rear glass…

my question is, why does the freaking thing leak when its closed?! Is the glass seal easy to replace? I see them on rockauto.

I got it all buttoned and now the other side is leaking. FML

They are designed to not be 100% water proof. Thats what the gutters are for. You can also buy just the sunroof glass seals. I used to do a lot of the glass seals along with the center channel to eliminate wind noise. The water leak like you have there was a tsb on it.

The glass seal is tricky to replace. Make sure you have the sectioned part of the seal in the same place as the original and spray the glass and seal with silicone DRY lube to help install the new seal onto the glass. Personally I would only use oem parts.

Jesus I feel for yall. Im so glad I researched before I bought and got a slicktop. I never use sunroofs and these GM ones seem really poorly designed.

My old shitty BMW has a pano roof and I parked under trees all the time and it never had problems other than needing to clean the drains.

I dont know what to do... I sealed the other side (driver) from the top by sliding the rear glass forward. Then I adjusted the height of both glass pieces so they would seal against the body better. Tried spraying it with the hose (headliner still down), and for the first 30 seconds it seemed fine. Then the passenger rear side, just got over run with water and spilled into the back seat... all 4 drains are flowing... they just cant keep up with the amount of water getting past the seal seams. I guess I'll order new glass seals.

It seems this is a very common problem. Does anyone have a permanent fix?

May be silly, but you said you have no plans on using it. Would it be possible to just get a good wrap guy to do your roof? Either black to match or maybe a carbon fiber? Just tossing it out there as the wrap wouldn’t allow the water in. Just cover right over it

I feel your pain. I took those plastic pieces that the drain tubes go into that go through the body and drilled them out with a drill so they don’t just have that + opening that so easily catches crud and causes things to back up and got a good bit more flow through the drains that way. I need to do what you’re doing and drop the headliner and really try to get the part where the drain tubes meet that drip pan sealed really well. I should probably replace those seals as well as I can hear wind leaking through on the passenger side. I’ve never had a car with a sunroof that had this many problems with leaks (hell I’ve never owned a convertible that caused me this much grief with leaks either.)
